This product was released in January of 2005 with support for a very small number of keyboards and mice. In the 2-1/2 years since, it has never been updated for any new input devices! Amazon would not allow me to publish a link in my review for the pdf doc that lists the supported devices, so I have loaded a screen shot above. It especially will not support USB keyboards/mice that have expanded SW-based capabilities.

This switch is compact and real easy to setup and use. Occasionally after restarting one of the two connected systems(with the switch pointed to it or not) the keyboard/mouse will not respond. Restarting the system again will usually fix the problem. My systems are on mostly, so it doesn't affect me much, it may be worse for someone who shuts down one or both systems nightly.

It's not easy to find one of the "Reverse" KVMs that are under $100. This one was the only one I could find. In fact, when googling for a reverse kvm, this model came back in the majority of the results. I really needed this scenario to work; but this belkin unit just would not cooperate. Actually,it was only the mouse port is what would not work. I had access to several models of mice. A bunch of old legacy items. MS ball type ps/2, MS ball type combo serial-ps/2, MS optical-USB-ps/2, kensington ball type , generic, dell, HP and none of them were recognized. This is the best and longest lasting KVM I have purchased. I have been using one for over 5 years and had no problem whatsoever. Those who complain that it does not work on a Mac should read up on USB technology. A lot of old mac models do not provide a 5v power on any USB port even the ones directly connected to the tower. That is the fault of Apple not Startech. I use a generic DC power supply from Radioshack. The person who claims that a 2amp 5v DC block is hard to find did not do enough research. It is readily available at Radioshack stores. The best part I like about this KVM is that it does not limit the number of consecutive key repeat strokes unlike other KVM.
