I bought the TJ27 refurbished after Sony discontinued it. I use it exclusively for electronic dictionaries and it works very well. The camera is handy but grainy and poor quality. The battery runs down in 2-3 weeks of no use, and then it's a hassle to load back all the software. So I carry it on overseas travel and must remember to charge it even if I don't use it. Ebay has many batteries available, maybe a new one will work better.

There's other detailed reviews, so I won't review the capabilities, but I'll just say that I absolutely LOVE my Sony Clie PEG-TH55. I've had it for about 5 years now (bought it brand new as soon as it was released from Sony in Japan) and I still haven't outgrown it. I've done everything with it. Music, movies, photos, freenotes (I wait tables, so instead of paper, i use the freenotes application), memos, address book with photos for my entries, date book, alarm, and added software and games. I love it. I love it. I love it. I will literally use this until it falls apart. I'm just a little disappointed that Sony let go of their line of PDAs and don't service them anymore.

With bluetooth and WiFi, this is a great little handheld with decent connectivity. When it was new, it was rather pricey, but now it's quite affordable and genuinely useful.

When my Palm 3XE was on its death bed I began searching for a PDA. I ended up replacing it with the Sony N610C. The Good: Excellent display-High resolution; I appreciate this more than I thought I would. Go for color-its worth it. Long battery life. Jog dial-really nice. Cover is fine-I have had no problems with this. Asthetics-very nice looking PDA. Price-you can get a great deal on one now that the 615 is out. The Bad: Its heavy. Sony provided brochures not very helpful - although I had a good experience with Sony customer service. They had my info from my old palm into my CLIE in 15 minutes. Overall this is an excellent PDA. I spent a lot of time trying to develop a Text Messaging/Mapping over MURS application for the PocketPC/WinCE platform in 2002, and picked up the E740 as my target device, thinking I was getting a "good deal". But Toshiba never supported this device properly, and its Operating System couldn't be upgraded... besides, the thing was a piece of junk anyway - constantly losing all your data, and a big hassle to synchronize... I had been a happy Palm user before, and was quickly dismayed at the poor quality of the device. There was some hope for a Linux OS upgrade for the device in late 2002, but that went nowhere as well.
