I've had my 904HA for about 2 weeks now (I'm typing this review on it). It's my first netbook/laptop, although I am the default techie for my wife's compaq laptop and have used the office laptops periodically. I must say that I am more than happy. I get about 6 hours battery life surfing the net or playing games with the wifi on (brightness at about 75%). I've been able to put a "virtual drive" which allows me to run some old games I have, and I've copied over all the MP3s from my MP3 player to have on the road with me. The only negative I can report is the oddly placed right shift key, but I really haven't noticed this to be much of an issue (I tend to shift with my left hand 99% of the time anyway). I brought 2 pcs for my sons. They are 10 and 8 year old. Both of them are very satisfied with this product especially my younger son. The battery life is amazing, almost 5 hours. On this kind of product, it's longer than what I expected.

Have had this unit for about 6 weeks, and have used it locally and on a plane trip. Size and weight are great, screen quality clear, remarkable start-up and shut-down speed (much faster than a newer Dell desktop with 4 megs of RAM, Intel Core Duo and Vista). Bought an LG external DVD drive which works well with it, no set-up problems. Minor issues: as others have said, the key size is good for a unit of this size, but location of the right hand shift key is a problem, which I resolved by reassigning keys. Now no problem, but ASUS should fix this in next version. Also have had a few instances of XP freezing on shutdown, had to remove battery to shut down. Overall, highly recommended, great value.

I am taking the time to review this item in hope it will prevent someone from making a wrong decision. This netbook is EXTREMELY portable. I bought it to carry around my motorcycle trips and use Skype when in wifi range. Battery performance is medium. It should last for 2.5 hs tops. Most notably the SSD technology incorporated into this model makes using it extremely tedious. The hard disk light hardly ever turns off. Read and Write speeds are extremely low, and can only be improved by replacing the internal SSD hard drive with a new one with better performance (approx 70U$S). Anyways, the price is very attractive, and if you only want it to wacth videos or browse the web when in no hurry (turning it on and gettig to browse the web can take 3 minutes or more) you may be ok with it

I had mine for a week and sent it back to Amazon, but it was my fault for buying the wrong computer. It was perfect for email and surfing the net, but I needed a laptop suitable for all-day word-processing use, which it isn't designed for. I found it strained my eyes and I couldn't type nearly as fast as with a standard keyboard. However, I was very impressed with the computer's exceptionally small size and weight, and the ease of setting it up and connecting to the net. I also liked the fact that there was a sticker on the keyboard with a toll-free technical support number. I'm going to try an eee PC with a 10-inch screen now - maybe that will be more suitable for my purposes.

I short, I love it. The folks who don't love it are trying to make it do something other than what it intended to do. I love the fact that it's light. I love the fact that the keyboard is just big enough to touch type on (not so with the 8.9 inch machines). I love the fact that it comes set up and ready to go with all the software you need (and lots more). I love the fact that this particular model comes with a spacious solid-state drive! No hard drive to fail at the most inopportune moment, yah! So, it is what it is, but what it is is perfect for me.

Bought this netbook as a 2nd laptop for use on-the-go. That was a week ago. Haven't touched my 17" laptop touched since. Don't underestimate this little machine. It fires up in no time. The screen is bright comfortable in use, and large enough to display virtually any webpage. The batteries are awesome and allow for hours and hours of use. Essential for a mobile machine like this (I'd advise against buying a cheaper model with less battery capacity.) Prior to buying, I had some worries about the keyboard being too small. This - for my size of fingers at least - turned out not to be a problem at all. The two-finger scrolling and zooming-in functionality of the mousepad is great. I wont duplicate all the previous reviews. I want to add that this little unit is great for traveling with on a motorcycle. I have had it for nearly a year, and its nowhere near as finicky about rough handling as a full size (and expensive) laptop. Once it's slipped into the DVD player case I bought for it, along with the charger, USB retractable travel mouse, and a little laptop light, its ready for the rough and tumble world of riding around tucked into a saddlebag. Full size laptops are cumbersome to carry on a bike, but this thing is quite happy, with no worries because of the Solid State Drive. Plus this PC works great for checking email, surfing and playing media. Lots of places now have free or low-cost wifi, and this little unit finds them and connects easily.
