I wanted to like this product - I really did. It's a pretty case, the screen looks great, and the feature set is impressive. But the software and documentation problems are maddening. There is PC software that you install to control the frame and load photos, slideshows, etc. This software is frustratingly buggy and never worked for me. It gave several error messages on installation; after finally installing fully, it couldn't find the frame on the network. The screen displays an error message referring you to the manual, the manual refers you to a web FAQ, and the web site points you back to the manual - kind of an amusing tail-chasing exercise. Basically both hardware and software on this thing are poor. You can see individual pixels which makes the images blocky. Doesn't always recognize the JPEGs on my cards. The sound quality is mediocre at best. The finish is cheap and plasticky. I returned it the very day I opened the box. It is a pity that you can't play music as the photos are being shown. You can only do things one at a time.

The 2/3 left hand side has a light line going down it, and the picture quality is horrible... I dont reccomend this... its garbage

First of all, prior to buying this laptop, I only looked at the stats. The selling points for me was the large hard drive, and the extremely light weight. Aside from the identical stats, like the Atom processor and the RAM, and 6 cell battery, the HHD and weight were the very reason I bought this laptop. However, after I purchased it, I started getting scared for several reasons after looking at actual older reviews. Problems with a loud fan noise. WiFi problems (worried me the most.) Battery sticking out a LOT. So I started regretting buying it, looking at as many good reviews as I could to change my mind. However, after it arrived, my expectations were exceeded. The XO is a brilliant little computer, but the organization is backed up with technocracy. There is no way to know these computers get to children, since they are simply sold to the government. There are no official XO tech support teams, since they are a non-profit and cannot offer such services. There is no infrastructure to back up the XO once it gets into the 3rd world countries, unless the government chooses to spend what little it has on internet connections for all the children to use ridiculous little Linux machines that have no bearing on the real world. In short, the organization sucks.

I purchased this frame because I read it had better resolution than others that were cheaper. I am very impressed--it delivers. It also has very easy photo transfers and offers an array of options that are useful. The cons (and they are minimal) are that the arm that holds the frame upright could be a little longer. And the remote is not intuitive to use--guess I'll have to break down and read the manual. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.

It works great. I keep in on my desk and have about 200 photos on my memory card. That is the only thing I did not like, I had to buy a new memory card but for the price I could not expect them to give me one with the frame. A+ Overall

Smartparts SPX12 - Digital photo frame - flash 256 MB - 12.1" I've been fiddling with the SPX12 for 4 hours now. Its not for the faint of heart and not worth the money. I purchased it for pics and video for my Mom. The pics side is ok. It does the job as expected. The video side, at least on this one, is worthless. Does not play 8 out of 10 movies I've tried. No AVI's. Will play a couple of MOV's. I've tried to rescale the videos down to screen size, saving AVI's as MOV's, re-saving MOV's and exporting them in 3 different apps to a new MOV file. Nothing. I had very specific features I wanted in a digital picture frame. This model delivers in nearly all of them. Here is a breakdown of the good and the bad: 1) Picture quality is outstanding. Much better than I expected. This frame really brings pictures to life in a way that traditional prints can't. 2) There is no product logo blaring on the front of the frame. All you see is the dark frame and the picture itself. 3) There are several slideshow settings, including many different transitions and many different lengths of time for each picture. 4) Buttons, which are located on the back of the unit, take some time to learn.
