Apple has not updated the lowly Mini in quite awhile and if everything I read online is true, it looks like they're never going to. Lots of people think they might be dropping it. I think that would be a big mistake. They should drop their silly Apple TV instead and keep this baby in their line up, because it's a solid performer. Well, not solid as a desktop computer, I wouldn't say that, but stick it under your TV, then hook it up via the Video out (you'll have to buy an adaptor so you can hook into one of your TV's HDMI ports), and you're good to go, TVwise that is. You don't need a Video player, because you can just used the DVD player on your Mini. You can watch Hulu or Joost on your TV. You can even check your e-mail. Bought one of these for my Dad, 82, who is visually and hearing impaired. He loves this thing. I'm a huge Mac fan anyway because of the reliability and quality of these computers but whats nice for Dad is he's able to enlarge the screen to where he can read now whereas before, he couldn't. The audio is crisp and clear so he has no trouble understanding the audio. The minimal real estate this takes up is fantastic and while the screen is large, it takes very little room on his desk. This is the third iMac we've bought over the years and I have to say that Apple never ceases to amaze me with their quality and design. Highly recommend this computer. I bought this model about one month ago and then the hard drive died recently. I am going to send the computer back for repair but most likely I will lost all my data in the drive. what a bad experience.

The Appleheads are right: This is a great machine with a nice operating system. The Apple OS, though flawed, is better than MS, especially Vista. The Appleheads are wrong: It is probably not worth double the price of a comparable PC. There are almost as many weird crashes and oddball things that don't work as with XP. One reason I got it was Vista is getting such a bad rap and XP will not be supported forever. My bottom line: If prices were roughly equivalent (or if money is no object for you), I would recommend the Apple over the PC. As it is I am not so sure. I think Appleheads overstate the advantages.
