Bought one of these since it was the cheapest way to try out the concept. I have had it on my desk for a few weeks but really havent given it a full tryout - I use the mouse out of habit. It is heavy but when I pull up on it can still lift off the desk. Obviously the version with the heavy base wouldnt do this but I didnt want to spend that much money to try it out. Seems like a well constructed unit with good drivers so far - have used on both Solidworks 07 and 09

This is an amazing product -- we use it to create camera effects in 3D spaces for live shows and recordings in the virtual world environment of Second Life. One you try it, you will never be able to do frame capture work with just the normal mouse. But it's not a replacement for your mouse -- I use my mouse on the right, and the SpaceNavigator on my left (admittedly sometimes with both hands just for a bit of extra control and concentration).

I love this thing! For years I've been using the mouse and keyboard. Now I can't work without the 3D connexion SpaceExplorer. Very intuitive navigation and programmable button capability reduces the time it takes me to design with Pro/E and Inventor. I highly recommend this device for anyone working in 3-D.

On a PC - this thing rocks... Cinema 4d takes some creative work arounds which is pretty lame tho - so it gets at least one star. The major disappointment however - is when you're on what is now the major player in our industry - a MAC. Absolutely no support. Wait for years - and their developers still say "Oh yeah - we've been asking companies to help us but they're busy". This is just as it sounds - pure BS. They've released a product that has become a paperweight for many people who bought it only to realize that something so unthought of is actually true: they don't support Mac OS. Crazy - but true. Very disappointing product. STAY away from all of 3dconnexion if you're a mac user. They may say they support it - but wait until you get all the fine print. Read More

I'm very impressed with this product. Quality is top notch as noted by others. I also wanted to address my original concern with someone's comment about top buttons (triggers) being loud and difficult to press: it's quite the opposite. While not touch-sensitive (capacitive), these surrounding buttons require low pressure to activate and emit a soft click. An interesting surprise was finding out that the middle button is a capacitive one. I am using this product for Serato Scratch Live and it's perfect for my needs.
