as previous reviewer stated, very easy to install. beware that if you are accustomed to a soundblaster live! card (as is my case), the audigy comes with minimal software. most notably absent is the graphic equalizer, which i quickly found necessary to replace ($20 and up). very bass-ey sound, this card.

I've had it for about a month and it works great. Opened the box, plugged in the USB cable and voila--music streaming wirelessly. It was really that easy. And it's much cheaper than a Sonos unit for ~$1,000, although I'm sure the Sonos product has it's advantages. Also, my ATT U-Verse router is 2.4 GHz, but I do not notice any interference with the sound or my network. According to the documentation, it comes with a "sniffer" that finds an unused channel on the frequency, and it seems to work. My only annoyance is that you can only play sound on your computer speakers OR the Xmod. But this is a Windows issue, not a defect of the product. Easy installation. Remove all sound drivers from device manager. Open case, insert sound card. Turn on computer. Windows finds it and asks for the install disk. Put in install disk and install. Do a computer restart and I GOT THE BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH. After trying several different work arounds, including a windows repair I had to send my computer to a shop and have the harddrive formatted and Windows reinstalled. We can't prove the software caused the crash but I haven't had any problems until I installed this software. Even with a clean hardrive and fresh operating system I still had to install the software twice to get it to work. As all creative products that I have used, the xfi pcie card did not fail to fulfill all my needs right after installing....great sound, easy install , nice front panel breakout box...and of course outstanding sound, through a stereo system or speakers at a pc or for headphones....all teriffic!!...Thanks again Creative sound labs for always staying in the cutting edge of PC sound.....long time fan.... I have made cd's from old cassettes and LP's and have had excellent results. The new recordings are better than the originals. The software does a fine job of cleaning up the scratches, clicks, hum, etc. You will need a little better than average computer and computer skills but the finished product is fantastic.

I do some occasional recording and my old onboard sound card started to fritz, so I replaced it with this one. Installation was straightforward, and it works great. I am running WinXP and the drivers had no problem installing from CD. I opted not to install the bundled software- the interface is dated and hideously ugly. Nice simple sound card.

This card used to be a nice one. I boght it four years a go (it was $300 then) and drivers used to be updated in a timely manner. Appart for the limited connection options, it did its job. They have been selling a lot since but, despite this fact, M-Audio hasn't been motivated enough to develop Vista drivers (specially those 64 bit ones) They report having started (very late) a beta testing program, where you can sign in but never are given the option to join them actually and get the beta driver, as far as I know. A public release was promised for September, 1st but nothing to do. Delays and more delays with complete lack of transparence.
