I bought this card based on all the great reviews to replace a stock Nvidia Quadro FX card on my Dell workstation. The performance of this card on some 3D intensive game was ok, not great. The game was still playable but it really lagged when there were much actions going on on my 22-inch wide screen monitor. I had to set the game graphic setting to low. The on-board fan was quiet during the first few days of use, but then it started to get noisy. I could live with the performance of this card after all it has a low price; however, I couldn't tolerate the noisy fan. I have a quite pc, and the fan noise from this card really stands out. I have decided to return this card back to Amazon.

The HW seems to be OK, the issue is with the software, it freezes and crashes way too often. I think if you have a WinXP system without MCE, you don't want to consider this brand. The software is written poorly: - On Analog or Non-HD digital channel, it takes 40-50% of CPU power on my Vaio S560, 1.8Ghz Pentium M + 1.5G memory. On HD digital channel, it takes 70-80% CPU power. The games I play that I wanted this card for are Counter Strike: Source, Half Life 2, Morrowind, and Combat Arms. This card did it. For the price it can't be beaten. I bought mine for $45 brand new from Amazon. In 2005 I bought the 5500 series for $150 lol. This card is great. Just pop it in the PCI slot, install the software and you're good to go!

I purchased this card when my old card hit the dust. I couldn't beat the deal I found through Amazon. This is an upgrade to my 9600 Pro. I immediately noticed the difference. I can suddenly see a lot more detail in all of my games and they run just as fast if not faster. This card came out about two years ago as of my purchase, 8/08, so it's not a top of the line card, but for under $50.00 how can you go wrong. I definitely recommend this card.

This is a great graphics card for the price. It had a no hassle install and works like a champ. For the majority of users out there (non-gamers), this card will be more than enough.

I bought this PCI card because I wanted to play Portal and my machine is old. My machine specs: Dell Dimension 2400 2.66gh processor 768mb ram XP Pro still running SP2 normal integrated graphics card If you're running into problems these tips might help: Problem 1) It's not recognizing the new card at all, you need to go into your bios before windows even starts up and tell it to auto select the graphics card or set it to PCI (my machine only had auto) Problem 2) If you're seeing that it's using the correct graphics card while loading before windows starts, but then goes blank until you plug it back into your old integrated slot, you need to go into your Control Panel > Administrative tools > Computer management > Device manager ... This is only $5 more than the 8500gt with a fansink and it is much quieter. I didn't realize how much noise was coming from my video card fan until I installed this card.
