I connected this to a wired network - I have not tried the wireless connections. It was very easy. Printer works well. One problem (otherwise I would have given it five stars) - there are no really good linux drivers (some so-so ones but no great ones - get on it Brothers!)

I recently bought the Cannon Pixma 4500 because of the good reviews it received in Consumer Reports. So far I am very pleased with it's performance. It is very fast. Quality is excellent. I like it that the different color cartridges can be changed separately - which will save me money and ensure that I use every last drop of ink before changing the cartridge. My only frustration was that it did not come with the cord needed to hook up the printer to the computer. Luckily, my scanner used the same cord and I was able to use that until I had a chance to go out and buy another one for the printer. That cost over $30. But I am still very happy with this purchase, and was able to get a great price for the printer on Amazon.

I purchased this printer primarily because it claimed to have wireless printing capabilities. I took my time and carefully installed the software on my wife's laptop computer. When I finished the installation and set-up I tried to print a test page, only the top two inches of the test page printed. After several hours of unsuccessful troubleshooting, I decided to configure my own laptop for wireless printing and perhaps figure out why my wife's laptop would not print properly. I ended up with the same exact results, only the top two inches of the test page would print. HP's online help was pretty much useless.

A great machine. Wish I could use the scanner when it's networked (hence only 4 stars), but it's still a great machine.

Just bought and set this up today, replacing a very similar 3-yr-old Canon that worked well, but had just developed print-head problems. Set up was easy, but I had to run set-up twice because it stopped when it encountered the old version of ScanSoft OmniPage - I had to remove that program manually, then start over (and the second time took longer, about a half-hour for the second un-install and re-install). Printer now works fine. I'm giving a lower rating because of the big disappointment at wasting more than $25 on a high-capacity #51 color cartridge, that does NOT fit this printer.

Wonderful little printer! No problems hooking up to Vista. College daughter absolutely loves it, and was able to find very reasonably priced ink cartridges to fit it.

My last HP pringer 1610 was a workhorse that finally had to be put out to pasture after 2-3 years. I upgraded to the PH C4280 and knew in a couple of days I had made a BIG MISTAKE. Software installed fine on vista. Then the trouble began. It did not want to pick paper up out of the tray and then kept triple feeding high quality paper. Then a sensor could not detect the installed ink cartadges. This problem was reoccurring enough to be serious problem. I did not know from job to job if I could get the printer to print which made it completely unreliable and useless. It seemed like the more I needed the printer the worse the problem was. Get ready for long hours with tech support. The software that drives this printer is abysmal. Every time there is a problem you have to uninstall and reinstall the software. Not worth the headaches.

This was a gift. Just the thing for a techie friend or loved one who needs to lay ink on paper. Photo paper too! It scans, it prints, it sends and never bends. How cool is that?
