I have used Palm PDAs for a number of years. I tried a device running Microsoft software a few years ago - far slower and harder to use. The Tx works well with epocrates and Skyscape for Griffith's 5 min clinical consult and so on. Browser software is a little slow, but then again I can't fit a laptop in my shirt pocket.

Am enjoying my new iPAQ, previously had a Toshiba and and having a little problem getting use to the updated windows software. I don't find the sync to work as smoothly and I also had to add memory to speed the processing, other than that, I'm very pleased. Suz

The Nokia N810 internet tablet is an excellent tool for email and web-browsing away from one's desk. A little big for a trouser pocket, it will fit comfortably in a jacket pocket. The wi-fi is incredibly sensitive, picking up and working on networks that Dell laptops can't. The sceen is small but very clear. The keyboard has a good feel to it, and the rocker pad to the left of the keyboard is very effective for navigating a page. The software is reasonably quick to load.

The map is excellent, the GPS could be a little more sensitive, but that isn't really this tool's main purpose, so I don't mind. The camera also is 'only OK', but on a par with most cellphone cameras, and more of an add-on than a serious tool. I haven't tried the VOIP telephone, so I won't comment on that.

5.Sony PRS-505/LC Blue Digital Book Reader from: Sony
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

PC Hardware : Sony PRS-505/LC Blue Digital Book Reader
I currently own several (3) of the PRS-505 Ebooks by Sony, and am generally very pleased. I have purchased many ebooks in the last few months (love to read, any chance I get), and love to brag to others about my ebooks. The book is lightweight, about the same size as a regular (printed) book, and easy to transport in a pocket or backpack. The selection of book on the Sony ebook site is generally OK, with a few authors that are cutting edge, and many that were completely unknown to me before I took a chance on their books. The "Free" 100 classic ebooks is not very valuable, as all of these books are available for free on many internet sites, however you do save a small amount of money and help the environment by buying ebooks verses printed books.
I would love it if SONY had installed a backlight, but they didn't. I ... Read More

I have been using the iPaq 211 now for a couple of weeks after upgrading from the iPaq 2755 that I purchased when it first hit the American market - 3+ years ago. I haven't had a chance to really test the multimedia capability but am willing to bet the 211 will be better for MP3 and movies. Overall, it is a good devise, but not as much of an improvement over the 2755 as I was hoping for. Below is a comparison between the two devises.

Screen
2755 - Bright and easy to read but type gets more difficult as it gets smaller. Web pages are really difficult to view making Internet Explorer nearly pointless.
211- Even brighter in comparison to the 2755. It also has automatic brightness adjustment that actually works well. But the biggest difference is the VGA resolution on a comparatively BIG screen. Web pages, ... Read More

I have used this pda for several weeks now and I really like it. It is well-made and has great sound quality from earphones, and even from it's little speakers, considering the size. It runs Office files and other files such as the Bible plenty fast. It's only weakness is playing back Windows media video files. I have found that keeping files limited to 385kbps CBR works well. In order to look good and play smoothly, the best resolution I've found is 240x180 pixels at 24fps, instead of 320x240 pixels, which is the max screen resolution.

I have not tested the WiFi very much, but it has worked fine in airports. It does use the battery up quickly.

FYI, creating play lists in Windows media player is tricky. To create a playlist, you first need to add whatever files you want into the Now Playing directory. You may need ... Read More

Powerful, convenient, value for money PDA/GPS package. Slightly big and heavy for use as a PDA to carry around everyday, though large enough to display sufficient features for a GPS to be functional. It seems to take a while for the GPS signal to lock in and hold a signal and occasionally the signal is lost while driving despite clear skies and the GPS having a clear view of the sky. The interface is fine, though I think Belkin's GPS software is slightly better overall. I do not like the fact that it does not tell you whether your destination is on the left or right hand side of the road. I also wish the input keyboard was in qwerty format and had an auto-complete feature to save time when inputting addresses. I also wish that it would at least pronounce names of freeways when giving directions. Overall though, it has no competition because of its excellent ... Read More

9.PalmOne m515 Color Handheld from: Palm

PC Hardware : PalmOne m515 Color Handheld
I have two Palm m515's, and after four+ years of daily use and syncing, both are still going strong. In fact they both outlasted my Treo 600 and Palm T/X.

This is a great low risk investment now that it is five years old. A great entry level PDA.

10.Compaq iPAQ 3650 Color Pocket PC from: Hewlett Packard
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

PC Hardware : Compaq iPAQ 3650 Color Pocket PC
The Ipaq is a great pocket pc overall. The Good and the bad

Bad- With small amount of memory you can sometimes have a problem of certain programs not functioning properly. Since the pocket pc manages its memory automatically you cant always use your on board memory to its full advantage.

The foul part on Compaq is that you must buy accessories for example the carring case you get with it is a sleeve which is tight as hell to pull your pocket pc which means you need to buy accessories and since there is no slot to stick a memory card in you have to buy a new sleeve that allows you to put a memory card in then you got to get the card seperately which all together can run you over another 100 or more which as we know will be more. Which is funny cause you can get a real pc for the price of this.

I guess buy now your wondering what the ... Read More
