Bought this for a large annual family reunion several years ago. Works great for making large quantities of scrambled eggs and frying bacon. Everyone at camp loved it. Works best on the large single propane burners. Works best if you start warming it and pour in a small amount of oil and coat the inside surface using some paper towels or a clean rag.

My first impression when this wok arrived was "This is HUGE"! It's also quite deep and round bottomed, so I had purchased a ring to use with it on the stove. It turns out that because the wok is so deep, it is very stable directly on the burner grates of my gas stove so the ring is unnecessary. It's made of mirror-polished stainless steel and comes with and instructional DVD. Being new to cooking in general, I watched the DVD, which was extremely helpful when it came to the actual cooking and my first attempt at stir-fry was fantastic! The wok heated up quickly and in a few minutes, I had a delicious beef with broccoli dinner. I was able to make the enough for the 7 people here without over crowding the wok. I received this item as a gift and was excited about trying it out - finally a solution for vegetables! I looked at the packaging carefully to see if there was any pre-treatment necessary or any precautions such as distance from charcoal. Nothing but a recipe and five basic descriptors: Great for use on all grills, Perfect for stir grilling, Dishwasher safe, Non-stick coated, and Easy to clean. I waited until the meat was done, put some zucchini (lightly sprayed with olive oil) into the wok and set it on the grill. It was still hot but way past the flame stage. When the wok cooled and I washed it with a sponge all of the black came off the bottom of the inside. Tried this cookware out tonight and was pleasantly surpised. I brought home a 3.5 lb bird (it had to be small to fit on my grill once the lid was down) and rubbed it down with olive oil and jerk seasoning (under and on the skin). Threw it over direct heat for 1.5 hours and the bird came out juicy and tasty. The beer (or other liquid of choice) in the middle acts as a steamer so the meat does not dry out. The wok area around the bird is handy as well. Not sure if much of the veg was catching the chicken juice but that didn't bother me too much. Plus as a bonus (given you place the wok on a larger plate) you can carve and serve right from the wok. Can't wait to use this at xmas for a sage flavored chix and grilled sweet potatoes!

If you are a caterer or own a restaurant,then you probably can effectively use the 22" wok. I loved the idea of a huge wok, but failed to anticipate the challenges it brings: 1. I couldn't season it in a standard oven. I had to resort to using the burner to season it by turning it. It was a laborious experience. 2. I can't easily clean it in a standard sink. Good thing I'm cooking next to the hose. Get the 18", or search Amazon for "Wok Shop" and get a 14" or 16".
