This would only be good in the shade, on a piece of glass that's not attached to your house (or anything else that might exude heat), and with a medium lit backdrop during the day (forget about reading it when it's dark outside). The other day it was 58 degrees out and this little fellow read 89 degrees. NOT EVEN CLOSE! Buy something you can mount on a fence or wall outside the house, or one of those units with a radio link to a remote thermometer.

This product works as advertised. Display is easily readable and the clock synced up to the atomic clock overnight. The forecasting has been surprisingly accurate so far.

Well, I'm semi-happy with my purchase. I bought two of these items because they were cheap compared with the shipping cost. Luckly, one of them registers the "correct" temperature with the other being something like 3~5 deg too low (depending on ambient temperature checked by a high-end digital thermometer). The product works perfectly and offers excellent visibility and is a snap to install. I'm just not happy with the product variability. No point in having a thermometer that's not particularly accurate!

I sat all three units next to each for over a day, and they all had different readings the entire time. The indoor temps were different by about 1 degree and a half. But, strangely, the signal coming from the outdoor unit showed up as 82.3 on one unit and 83.5 on the other unit. The temp continued to be different all day, even though they were right next to each other. And when I finally hung up the outdoor unit, the signal would not transmit across the room, which is only about 20 feet. These are ok if you want a general idea of what the temp is, but not if you need it to be accurate.

Good: Pretty, Accurate, Atomic clock, back light, easy to configure. Bad: Viewing angle, Sensor works only with Batteries in winter. I did not expect a color LCD at that price, but the colorful background is just a printout on a piece of paper with a normal black LCD as an overlay. I must highlight that the backlight is very well diffused and it does not have any hot spots nor does it look like if it's 4 white LEDS that are lighting the display. The black LCD does not provide a wide viewing angle, but it's acceptable for my application. It works on batteries or provided AC adapter. I live in Montreal(Canada) and the Atomic clock does synchronize (at my surprise!) but my unit stops responding for a minute when it syncs. But Montreal does get very cold for ... Read More
