I have purchased and installed the SST-900i, and was sold based on the simplicity of programming the unit. After programming and setting the clock and date (numerous times), I was pretty darn frustrated. The unit will not stay on very long, and it seems to be a short in the power circuit, which is making it reset to the default time and date every few minutes. It occasionally displays a blank screen which indicates the power problem. I have also called the Rainbird Tech Line, each time I call though, I just get placed on hold forever (8 minutes each time) and end up hanging up. Not what I would call good customer service at all. I plan on returning the unit for another one at this point, I may even switch brands to Orbit, but I don't know how much better theirs ... Read More

I bought three of these for my nieces so they could "help" their parents in the garden. They love them, and they participate in watering all the plants (including the neighbor's). A good, experience-foundation thing for kids to follow your example outdoors in the yard. Very safe and encourages activity, too!

I made the mistake of purchasing a German made watering wand known as a Gardena Gardena Deluxe Spray Wand #38108-6. The item broke, after a few days of very light use. Since the Gardena's moving parts were mostly made of plastic, the wand could not be repaired. I had to throw it away. I purchased on of these as a replacement. I wish I had purchased it in the first place. The Toro design involves strong metal parts in the functioning moving valve assembly, and grip. The Toro is more comfortable to use, and, because the parts that can break or malfunction are metal, instead of cheap plastic, you have a chance of being able to fix it without throwing it away.
