I bought this several months ago when it was a Lightning Deal so I wanted to give it some use before reading a review. I had been looking for a manual reel mower for awhile so I jumped on the deal. I'm glad I did. There's no oil to buy and change, and there's no gas to buy. When I got the mower, the instructions said the blades were adjusted from the factory but mine weren't adjusted well enough to cut evenly. This is only a minor problem though since the adjustment instructions are clear and very easy to understand. The mower is a little harder to push than a regular, non-self-propelled mower but that's why they call it yard WORK. The best thing is the light weight. It does everything a heavy noisy mower does and I can carry it around on one hand. Love it. Tall weeds get tangled on the axle, but it is easy to untangle them by hand.

I needed a mower for the small lawn in back of our home. This push reel mower which has seven blades proved to be a good choice. This is an easy unit to assemble. Out of box you have a complete mower assembly. All you need to do is add the handle. The mower handle consists of four pieces of metal tubing. These are held together by three ¼" machine bolts and three lock nuts. The tools I used for assembly are a 7/16" wrench, a 7/16" socket and a pair of pliers. There are two studs on the mower assembly to connect (mount) the handle. The handle is retained on these studs by "E" rings. I used the pliers to push the "E" rings into place. Overall, decent (not great) product, but fairly priced and cuts ok so I still prefer it to a gas mower. Arrived a full 2 weeks after ordering (free shipping so can't complain) with a damaged front wheel. Emailed Jack's and they sent a replacement(arrived almost 3 weeks later). Easily assembled. First two mows was with wobbly busted front wheel and pretty long grass (5") and mower performed marginally requiring multiple passes. With new wheel applied on 4" grass, it did better, though it leaves an occasional blade of grass standing. Seems to hold its charge for at least an hour, though my charge light never turns green and the charge indicator stays red even if I charge it for a few days. I wanted to collect some of my clippings from the reel mower to use as mulch. I had allowed the grass to sit on the lawn. I had been cutting it twice to eliminate missed spots and break down some bigger clippings. This bag doesn't catch everything. You also need to pull back the load and reposition the clippings from the predominate left side every so often. I didn't expect much from this attachment, but it serves my purpose to gather a fair amount of clippings.

I purchased this in May and have used it as my main mower for a 10,000 sq. ft. lawn. Assembly was easy and I used it right away without adjustments. For background, although somewhat flat, my lawn is not even. Although surrounded by trees, I do not make pre-mowing inspections of the lawn for twigs, etc. and have not had any jamming issues. I find pushing the mower as easy as my gasoline mower, although you can not stroll with it. It does a close enough job to the gas mower not to worry about it. I do overlap my rows. I have had no problems with the mower, the quality seems to be good. I cannot compare to other companies because I haven't used them. I bought this one due to it's 20 inch width. Handle bolts together, so it flexes more than it should. Presumably the handle is manufactured of multiple pieces so it can be shipped from China in a small box. It cuts well (short grass only). For long grass and/or weeds I gas-up my power mowers.

I have been using an old Clemson reel mower, from the 50,s, heavy and strong, I think you could drop it off a cliff without damage. I thought I would try some new tech though, and got the sunlawn. Now, you cant mow like you would with a gas hog mower, you have to keep on top of the lawn, and remove sticks, but the sunlawn does a very nice job, it does not miss much grass when set high like most reel mowers do, its very quiet (grease the rollers) and REAL easy to push, its almost too light. I like everything about it but the handle, its not sturdy at all, nor are the mounting point gizmo's. But it does do a nice job, and if you dont have real thick tall grass, its easier then a heavy gas powered mower. I have a bit over 10,000 sq feet of lawn and it takes me an hour, and is a lot less work, easy on my back. Read More
