I needed to get a new lawn mower as the one I had was 8 yrs. old and died. I bought this and it arrived very fast I must say. There's an identical version of this mower branded as a Sears Craftsman and probably some other store brands. I got it for a large (2/3 acre) lawn and knew that I wouldn't be bagging, so this model is made for us strictly mulchers. The large rear wheels are an improvement over earlier small-wheel models and the self-propel mechanism really flies. The fuel tank seems slightly larger that more basic models and lets me do about 1/2 level acre per tankful. The price is excellent for the power and features, it's been the all-around ideal mower for a non-bagger. I have a list of shortcomings, but no regrets, as the mower is priced well: self-propel lever doesn't seem to really allow you to vary the speed like the instructions claim, it's zoomy fast or stop; self-propel lever requires an awkward hand ... I can't figure out why I wasted my time trying to fix the old junker, I don't know why I trawled craigslist looking for second hand mowers and I don't know why I thought I would luck out on a good bargain Mower (you know the brands). Eventually after touring 3 Box stores I went to professional Mower shop to ask for advise - they steered me in direstion of the Lawn Boy as good value for money and worth the premium over lesser mowers. Our new Lawnboy was delivered by UPS in about the time expected. When the UPS driver took the box out of his truck, the box was totally mangled, and parts falling out all over. The UPS driver said if I had any trouble to let "us" know. After UPS left, I started putting the mower together to see if all the parts were there. They were not, so I got on the internet and wasn't quite sure who to report this to. I went on the Amazon site, and after going thru all the steps, it came back with "Item not returnable". That left us wondering how the heck we would be able to use this mower without all the parts there to put it together. So we put in a complaint to UPS. Having only used 2-cycle LawnBoy mowers, I was hoping the 4-cycle would be up to par. So far it's everything a mower could ask for. Sens-A-Speed is very nice. Similar to other self-propelled mowers out there, it allows the mower to keep up with you in almost all conditions. Rear Wheel Drive - I prefer this over front wheel drive on some of the cheaper mowers. It allows you to change directions, but still have it self propelled feature. Starts of first time every time as long as the kill switch is turned to the on position. The kill switch is necessary since you can run the mower without the blade moving (see below). I could not beleive this price. This lawn mower is very powerfull!!! I had electric mower before and having gas mower is really blessing. I would recommend this product to everyone, much easier to deal with gas and oil then electricity and flipping the cable. This is very cheap for what it does. I also had some gift certificates so I was very happy with price.

This mower smoked from the very start. The repair shop helped a little but the mower got steadily worse. In 2nd season, surging and really exhausting badly. This is the 3rd year, and it just won't start. Junky for a mower.
