If they would have had this thing when I was a kid (a few decades back), I would have gone crazy with it. It is a TOY, not a real scientific instrument, but it's the kind of toy that can good and truly make a kid fall in love with science. Enter the Dymo 400, which I snagged last Wednesday. I opened the box and took out everything and started hooking it up to the computer. I'm a Mac user so I really expected a few problems to crop up with what I've read on here. I read the directions and installed the software first (very important) and then hooked up the printer. My Mac immediately recognized that I had installed it, and within minutes I was printing labels using their pre-formatted software. What a difference my Ebay packages look with these labels! Laptop design is very good -QWERTY keyboard and an effective mouse- but the games and activities are very limited and will bore to any pre-schooler in a very short term. However, it is a heavy duty electronic toy that must be purchased for training the kid in fine motor skills.

My calculator hangs when I try to switch modes, even when following the instructions word for word. I do a lot of calculating for simple things, however, and that part of it works fine. The solar function is far advanced from the older style; I have a solar calculator that is 25 years old and still running, and this one will work under lower light conditions and has a brighter display.

I ordered this case for my macbook and its fantastic. It is a beautiful hot pink color but not like the reddish magenta color that they are selling now. Its durable and fits on the mac book perfectly. It protects it well from dust and other damage. This color is hard to come by so its great to find it on amazon. A+++++++++++

Great gift - bought this along with a doorway puppet theater for my daughter on her 7th birthday - LOVES it. We giggled for an hour putting teeth on the monsters head, eyes for a mouth, etc. Just a super cute idea, and well made. Obviously, with detachable arms and stuff, you can't move the arms around through the puppet, but it still looks and works great. Adorable idea. I WILL be buying more as gifts for friends' kids.
