After reading a lot of reviews, I bought one of these at an electronics store (Fry's, $88.00). Very pleased with it for a year and a half. Then the screen quit. The warranty is one year. I sent it to Sharp asking what they could do. No great expectations, just wondering what they would do, if anything, as I liked the thing but had expected a bit more longevity. No reply or comment from Sharp (in Illinois), but they sent it to a repair shop (Romax) in Texas who sent me a notice that it would be $159.50 to fix it (money up front), or if I wanted it back (as is), I needed to send them $10.00 shipping and handling. So... I can spend $10.00 on top of the purchase price and have nothing, or let them keep it, which I imagine will result in them refurbishing it and selling again. No joy anywhere. ... Read More

I have a special needs child that does not speak. The wonderful thing is this device is small and easy to carry with you for him to put in simple words or sentences BUT it does not always recognize alot of words. The plus is you can at least see what he has typed.

I'd recommend this product to anyone learning Spanish or English. I bought this dictionary a few years ago because it was pretty cheap, small and lightweight. It served me well until I spilled water on it one day last year, and the screen stopped functioning. I still thought it was a very good product, though, and didn't want to risk my money on something different, so I bought a second one. It's excellent for looking up vocabulary quickly, whether you're listening to a professor in class or you're reading and pressed for time, however, it lacks some words a bigger dictionary would have and doesn't include any common idioms. It's also really frustrating to scroll through the long verb conjugation list, so I'd recommend buying a regular book like 500 Spanish Verbs if that's what ... Read More

My kids (5-10) use this frequently when they are not sure how to spell a word (you type in how you think it is spelled and if your wrong it will give you the correct spelling) They also like the tic tac toe. The only problem we have is some words are not there. My daughter was studying for the 5th grade spelling bee and I would say about 1/3 of the words she was studying could not be found in the dictionary. I am coming on now to find a more advanced dictionary. For the price this is a great value.
