I received my PX-120 yesterday. I can affirm both the positive and negative aspects of all the previous reviewers. However, I would like to emphasize certain aspects of this keyboard.

The body of the PX-120 is very thin, so it is ideal for small spaces.

The keys feel absolutely amazing. If I were to close my eyes I would believe it was an acoustic grand piano.

However, the speakers are not very good at all. The sound, although realistic, sounds muffled when played over the keyboard's small, built-in speakers. With such an overall great design, I would not have thought that Casio would have overlooked this critical aspect of a keyboard. Alternately, when using an external sound source, the tone quality is astounding.

Overall, this keyboard ... Read More

I purchased this on the presumption that it had "1 finger chord" as stated in the sellers description...I feel that the item has been misrepresented, as there doesn't seem to be any such function.

Musical Instruments : Yamaha NP30 Portable Grand Digital Piano

Hey, if you're looking for an inexpensive electric piano, BUY THE NP-30. My biggest concern was the weighted key issue, (the NP-30 has "graded" keys...whatever that means.) All I know is the keys feel good, not weighted by any stretch, but they feel natural somehow, and after a little adjustment time I found I really like the feel. The electric and grand piano sounds are great too. Don't know or care about the organs, strings, etc. I bought this for the piano sounds.

Since there were no reviews yet, I thought I'd put in my two cents. Mind you, this is my first musical instrument, so I'm not experienced with this sort of product. However, I've had a friend who is an excellent pianist check it out.

Anyways, this seems to be a very good piano so far. It has a good, stereo sound. The display is kind of nice as a beginner, as it shows what note you're hitting. If you care, it has a nice variety of different voices. The keys seem very responsive to me. My piano friend told me that it has a shorter sustain than a real piano when playing without pushing the sustain pedal. Probably not super important for learning initially, and if you just want to learn the keyboard and don't care about real pianos, its not an issue at all. I should also point out, that the keys aren't weighted ... Read More

Casio PX800 Privia Digital Piano with Weighted Scaled Hammer Action Keys

My wife and I own a large Steinway grand piano and a small harpsichord in our living room. We bought this digital piano as a replacement of our old MIDI keyboard and for nighttime practice.

Casio PX800 has an excellent speaker set and a realistic keyboard. Although its tuning isn't perfect (like any acoustic piano and harpsichord), it produces a great sound. As a piano with a full size keyboard and three pedals, its footprint is surprisingly, and pleasantly, small.

Its USB-MIDI functionality is also fantastic and extremely easy to use. Thanks to ferland.francois, this Casio keyboard is now Mac compatible. (Casio supports Windows only.)

Not only does this piano function as a great stand-alone musical ... Read More

I took 16 years of classical piano training and bought this keyboard to record accompaniments to vocal music for use in vocal training. My review consists of initial impressions on how the product measures up to my particular need:

Ease of use - as with other all-in-one electronic keyboards, the keyboard works when you turn it on with no adjustments. If you want to do ANYTHING other than use it in default mode, then the user guide must be consulted.

Similarity to an acoustic piano - keys are not weighted, 12 keys are missing as compared to an acoustic, and the keys are mighty slippery. I find my fingers slipping off the black notes quite a bit.

Features - the features of this piano seem geered toward a novice learner. The auto accompaniment feature and the many teaching components seem ... Read More

Now, it's been ages since I have had a keybaord or piano around the house. I wanted to get myself back into the swing of things again so I thought I would low-ball it on the price and just get something to get the creative juices flowing again. Well, you get what you paid for.

The CTK-720 arrived today perfectly fine (sans a few nasty dings in the box, the unit was unscathed). I set it up, hooked it up to my own speaker system to make sure it would have the chance to produce a nice clean sound. Boy, not even my speakers could help it.

Beyond the fact that this is definitely a "Beginners" keyboard in the way that just about any instrument other than "piano" sounds like a midi file circa 1980s there is an odd issue. As a 5-octave keyboard you would want to be able to move around, but there's something odd in ... Read More
