141.Hohner 560/20 Special Low Harmonica, Key of F Low pitch from: Hohner
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Musical Instruments : Hohner 560/20 Special Low Harmonica, Key of F Low pitch

I love my Low F harmonica. I feel it complements the high G harmonica very well. The two are virtually the opposite extreme of each other.

I have sixteen harmonicas currently, with more in sight. I have all twelve diatonic key harmonicas. If you have the money, and a good case to store them in, I highly recommend acquiring a full set like mine.

The low F harmonica in its lowest register is rich and super warm. Blowing and drawing holes 1 through 3 on this instrument gives two warm rich chords. I compare the bottom F of this instrument to the bottom F of a concert accordion.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Musical Instruments : Hohner 580/20 Meisterklasse Harmonica, Key of D
Hohner makes a fine harmnica in their Meisterklasse models.

I have them in keys of G, A, and D, and am saving to add additional keys.

The curve and weight are, compared to the Blues Harp and Special 20 case styles, much more comfortable in my hands.

The way the cover plates fit the holes and the slight texture to the ridge between makes these harmonicas especially comfortable for tongue blocking.

For playing by pucker, and I play that way as well, it is easy to get a good seal on the individual notes.

However I don't find the reeds are any easier to bend than the other models of Hohner diatonic harmonicas. If you play a lot of bent notes you may want to tweak the reeds and gaps or ahve them tweaked for you by one of the customizers. ... Read More

149.Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor Harmonica, E MINOR from: Lee Oskar

Musical Instruments : Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor Harmonica, E MINOR
Lee Oscars are great harmonicas. They play real clean and last a long time. I also like Honner special 20's. They sound a little different (I like the sound more), but really, any of the harmonicas that are in the $17 to $25 range are good, pro harps. Even the Big River harps sound real good, and I think they are $13. I've had some Big River's though that take a little more air then Lee Oscars, Special 20, Blues, Herring Blues, Suzuki. The cheep harmonicas are really beginner harps, and don't sound that good (no piedmont specials please). If you are a beginner, I recommend you buy a $22 Honner special 20, in the key of C (most books are in C, but some use A, so check) to start with. You will experience less frustation as bends are a lot easier, and the holes are spaced a little further apart. ... Read More
