I bought this midi cable to hook up my V-amp 2 to my new pc with the Vista OS, and I didn't even have to install any drivers for it, it worked right off the bat. My pc recognized it immediately, no problem at all. I recommend it highly for V-amp users and whoever needs one with a computer that has Vista.

If you use iTunes to listen to your music at home, you owe it to yourself to try this wonderful digital to analog converter. Got emu 0202 digital to analog converter several months ago. Originally hooked it to an xp machine, now with a new vista system. What an amazing upgrade to the integrated soundcard. This midi controller is the best in its price range without a doubt. I compared it to the Oxygen series. Yes the Axiom may have more features, but you will pay much more for that item. This controller blows the Oxygen line out of the water. Although the keys are not advertised as being weighted, each key has a small steel weight attached to the underside to give it a weighted feel. I was very impressed. It also has 16 knobs, more than enough for controlling my favorite vsts in Fl Studio. It also works great with Reason. My only complaint is the included softsynth. EMU doesn't say it in the marketing materials, but it is mentioned in the manual (AFTER YOU HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT IT THINKING THAT YOU ARE GETTING AN INCLUDED SYNTH), that you have to have an EMU AUDIO CARD in order ... I purchased this controller to use with my Arturia Moog Modular V VST program. It works very well. The keyboard action feels great and the knobs and wheels are smooth and easy to turn. I had no trouble plugging it in and setting it up either. That could have been a problem in that I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, which is not musician friendly. Yet, everything worked well. My only complaint is the Proteus software and the Ableton Live that comes with it. To me they are useless, for the most part. The Ableton is just a sampler of the real thing and most of the features don't really work. It is so limited, it actually works on my system whereas the cheapest Cakewalk recording software doesn't. As for the Proteus, I loaded it and tried to use it, but it is such a convoluted process ... Read More

The Tracker Pre has excellent audio quality (high dynamic range and SNR on the analog parts and high sample rates and bit depth on the digital parts). The USB-powered microphone phantom power works beautifully. Alas, Linux support is very poor: it's listed as not supporting Linux, though with a very new Linux kernel (as of Oct. 2008) it just barely works: only at 44.1KHz 16bit and without software volume control.

I bought this card for my girlfriend, who's a musician. We sut it up on her massively outdated PII 700. It worked great, the software that came with it ran fine on a system that slow. It was a bit slow at times, but fine. She finally upgraded the machine, and I moved the card to the new one, and it's just a dream.

No other system in this price range offers you the quality of AD converters found in this unit. I use this unit for recording on my desktop PC through the pci card and I also have the corresponding PCMCIA card so that I can use it for recording on my laptop. I only have to disconnect the unit from the port on either machine (it attaches and detaches from the computer much like an ethernet cable) and plug it into the other machine and I'm ready. The breakout box is amazingly versatile for the price and considering how little room it takes up. It has a pair of universal inputs in the front, as well as optical and coaxial ins/outs for connecting to other hardware if you want to expand the number of inputs or route the signal to other devices. Understanding the 1616 control panel setup was more challenging since I'm not familiar with the mixer metaphor. That part was frustrating and it took a day or two trolling the web to get the info I needed for my DAW application to work. Bottom line, very pleased with the results. Condenser mic, guitar input, plugin effects -- I never thought I would have a semi-pro production studio on my desktop.
