I bought this violin for a young girl at my church. I was surprised by the look of it, it is beautiful and the carrying case is better than expected. Her music teacher paid for some new strings and this young girl has been faithful to her lessons. She played it and I am very surprised by the sound that comes from this instrument. It is absoulutely worth the money I spent. the sound is great, it looks of fine quality and it is worth every penny I spent. Yes it is inexpensive but for what I heard it is vwry well worth it. I am currently looking for a more expensive one from this company even now as well as a cello from this same company. This is a Christmas gift for my 3 1/2 yr old. She has been asking for a violin for months after seeing someone play. This is adorable and will be perfect for her I think. I thought the case was nice considering the price, it even has straps on the back to wear it like a back pack. Set up was a bit tricky, a couple of strings came completely loose while I was attempting to set up the bridge. I haven't played in yrs so it took a bit for me to remember all the tricks. I still need to dig out my old tuner and get it ready to play, but so far I think I got exactly what I paid for if not more. This will be a great starter instrument for her.

Good product considering the price. One of the tuning pegs would not stay, the string would never tighten completely. Within a week the peg broke while we were trying to get it to stay. However, we (the parents) are not experienced with violins and accept the possibility that we may not have been interpreting the directions correctly. Also, we did not attempt to contact the seller for a replacement, so I cannot comment on how they might respond to such a request. The remainder of the pegs work fine. The one major complaint I have is that the violin took a very long time to arrive; they did announce that there may be a delay, hopefully this was just a temporary problem.

If your looking for a cheap case like I was, this is about as good as it gets. It doesn't have a humidifier or any awesome gadgets, but you're getting what you pay for. It has enough room for all the essentials as well as a outside pocket for sheet music or whatever. It also has two bow holders inside to boot. Mine came with a few bits of leftover material inside from when it was made, but I cleaned it out easily. The only thing that would make this case better would be one of those padded cloths that you put over your instrument. But overall, this is a great case for the price.

I'm absolutely not an expert on classical instruments, and I'm sure this wouldn't be the choice viola for the serious violist (or possibly even the serious student), I am a musician though(guitar & piano), and have to admit that, for the price, I've been very impressed by the quality of the tone of the instrument. There's no slip to the pegs, and it comes with pitch pipe, extra strings, rosin and instructions for setting up the bridge, which is all very handy. Haven't really noticed any serious de-tuning that you wouldn't expect from any new set of strings. Definitely recommended for anyone interested in playing around with a bowed instrument, but who may not be ready to drop 2-4 hundred dollars, or for a student who's on a serious budget.
