I got this for Christmas at the end of 2001...right after they came out. I was looking for a cheap MIDI keyboard controller. Basically, I was looking for it to control my MIDI soundcard, while MIDI controllers were still incredibly expensive. The piano voices on it...are just as good as the default piano voices on the Korg Triton..this is no lie. The voices follow those of the voice architecture similar to that of the Nintendo 64. I love this thing. Its a little on the heavy side..and the sequencer and synthesizer are deeply imbedded and hard to use. This little, lightweight piano is the answer to my dreams, since I can't carry my beloved baby grand with me, and finally gave in and bought my very first electronic, digital piano... along with my now beloved Mac laptop preloaded with GarageBand! I can record everything with the click of a button and go back in later and write whole orchestrations, "just like the big boys." It's really amazing. I just got a casio pr575 or whatever, and it works well. The only objection I have is that when one lets up on keys, there is sometimes a loud mechanical click! It's very annoying. If I could figure out how to get the thing apart, a bit of felt would fix the problem, but it's a real Chinese puzzle to get it apart. Oh, well, it was only $600 Jerry O'Dell

The Casio keyboard is fine the ad indicated I was buying keyboard stand, and ac adapter. Received only the keyboard contacted amazon, their answer was sorry here is the e-mail address and telephone of company sending keyboard, call them said not their fault amazon not their fault finally referred to Casio company. After at least 7 - 10 calls and e-mail by the ton. They finally agreed to refund $25. I strongly felt that this problem should have been solved by amazon since they were the company that accepted my payment. They simply said we can get your money back but it is your problem, very disappointed in the service.

PROS: Excellent cabinetry, built-in keyboard cover, full three-pedal pedalboard, GREAT pipe organ voice, easy operation of optional features, not too many digital "doodads" like drums and intros. This is designed to be a "serious," "next-best-thing-to-real" piano. CONS: Piano-voice sampling is WEAK -- sounds like something between an old Fender-Rhodes electric "boing boing boing" keyboard and a cheap Casio kiddy keyboard. Key weighting is also quite primitive by today's standards. Don't buy this unit expecting piano sounds anywhere near a Yamaha or Roland. OK for practice, but definitely not up to performance use unless you don't care about the realism of piano sounds. Buy only after you play!
