Musical Instruments : Casio CTK-671 61-Note Touch-Sensitive Portable Electronic Keyboard

Love this keyboard! The touch sensitivity is easily worth any perceived compromises in sound quality compared to Yamaha or other comparably-priced products. The button layout & functionality is comprehensive without being overwhelming. Manual is good--and on-line. Backlit display is also a plus, as is the midi connectivity & modest recording capability. Sound quality of pianos & organs is especially good. Not sure if that quality would be maintained direct through a p.a., but it is certainly of high enough quality for home recording & use in small clubs. Sounds are very tweakable, and the advanced tones are for the most part immediately useful. Guitar tones are good. Obviously more expression is possible playing an actual guitar, but here again the touch feature helps ... Read More

Musical Instruments : Casio CTK720 Music Keyboard

I purchased this Casio portable keyboard to replace a Yamaha instrument that had apparently gotten fried inside from having used the wrong AC power adapter. Not to mention that my very old Casio MT240 has either mysteriously disappeared from my house, or, more likely, has been stashed away so well that I can't find it. After searching for the missing keyboard for several weeks without any luck, I decided that I needed to buy another keyboard, since it bothered me that I had no portable instrument to take to picnics, nursing homes, Christmas gatherings, and otherwise perform on the go.

The Casio CTK720 is a very basic keyboard, primarily designed for a beginner. However, there are plenty of features to satisfy the intermediate player and the keyboard hobbyist, such as myself. It ... Read More

I chose the The Casio CTK-800 because I liked its ergonomics/button design better than the smilar Yamaha models. I also think it looks better too. But I don't like that the volume control is a small, hard-to-grasp slider, rather than a knob. The knob you see is for the microphone. At first I didn't like the silver color but I gotta admit it grew on me.

This keyboard has tons of good and realistic sounds (voices). Most of the voices are of traditional or orchestral instruments, though there is a decent/half-decent selection of electronic, futuristic, and fantasy sounds. And a few weird ones like a helicopter and a ringing telephone. 32-note polyphony is great, even if it's overkill. The built-in metronome is handy. The ability to record your playing and then play over top of it is also ... Read More
