I purchased this for my son that is in the "music Industry" program getting his BA. He says this is the best piece of equipment he has worked with in a long time. He just loves it. Amazon was the Best to buy from, price, shipping was super fast, quaility awsome. We are very happy with this purchase

It's very nice if you're looking for a 25 keys MIDI controller, you even don't need a MIDI cable cuz it does it all by included USB cable, the only thing is that it doesn't come with a printed manual and the setup it is not intuitive at all!!!

I use this instrument daily (with my iMac garage band sofeware) for choir practice to make sure I stay on pitch. I like that I can use garage band to easily alter the pitch of the keyboard. Usually I set A (abvove middle c) to 440 mHz for modern music, but I may set it to 435 for Baroque music. I also like having a keyboard that is light weight and I can store it under a bench. Right now I have the keyboard on my ironing board next to my computer. The ironing board is adjustable and gives it a secure base. So I can wait to buy a stand until the stock market recovers - no matter how long that takes.

First of all, it IS vista-32bit/Mac compatible. Thing with vista is you have to download the Vista 32-bit driver off their website
[...]

Pros:
-Light-weight
-Looks clean and very professional
-Nearly every key/slider/knob is assignable
-Cheap
-Easy to setup
-Works for both Mac & Windows

Cons:
-Userguide that comes with it doesn't show you how to do anything
-Had to manually go to their website and download the vista-32bit driver.
-Driver Installation CD only works for XP/Mac

This thing is great! It plugs right into my macbook and immediately works with Garageband and Reason :) I haven't tried to plug it into my vista or linux because I only plan to use it with my macbook but right away you don't need any software drivers or anything to make it work.

It's much smaller than my 4' old Casio keyboard which is why i bought it and i don't regret buying it :) The Ableton software it came with is kind of crappy and not intuitive at all compared to what I already have, so I ditched it. But I didn't buy this for the free additional software it comes with. I bought it so I could bring it to me and my mac instead of bring my mac and me over to it (like my old fuller sized keyboard >.> ) and it's just the perfect size for that.

in my opinion the software is terrible. the day i got it, it took 30 min. to download and it wont even work on vista. the keyboard on the otherhand is great for midi. ur best bet is to look into buying a better software such as fl studio or mixcraft

MIDI controllers are often a subjective choice because not everyone uses them for the same purpose or has the experience of playing on weighted keys such as your normal piano.

I purchased this after having started with a 49 key M-Audio Key Studio which was an entry level controller with plain, non weighted keys and no extra control beyond the standard pitch & mod wheels and octave buttons. I wanted something that would allow comfortable "piano style" two handed play without getting into actual 88 key units. If you are not experienced with actual keyboards/workstations (the ones that have sound and sequencers on-board like the Fantom, Motif, Triton) then you will likely be surprised with the weight of the unit. It is not heavy per se, but if your prior experience is with a small drum ... Read More

Musical Instruments : E-MU EM7700 Professional USB/Midi Controller Keyboard with 25 Full Size Keys
This midi controller is the best in its price range without a doubt. I compared it to the Oxygen series. Yes the Axiom may have more features, but you will pay much more for that item. This controller blows the Oxygen line out of the water. Although the keys are not advertised as being weighted, each key has a small steel weight attached to the underside to give it a weighted feel. I was very impressed. It also has 16 knobs, more than enough for controlling my favorite vsts in Fl Studio. It also works great with Reason.

My only complaint is the included softsynth. EMU doesn't say it in the marketing materials, but it is mentioned in the manual (AFTER YOU HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT IT THINKING THAT YOU ARE GETTING AN INCLUDED SYNTH), that you have to have an EMU AUDIO CARD in order for it to work. ... Read More
