I actually bought this tin whistle at a little roadside shop and proceded to annoy all the other passengers in the vehicle as I worked out the fingerings using the little chart provided! As an experienced flute player I'd wanted a tin whistle for a long time, and this one is a very nice one indeed. It is of sturdy construction and is definitely prettier than those plain metal models (in my opinion anyway). I've had no problems with it: no squeaking of any kind. Overall, a very worthwhile purchase for any wind player.

I put this whistle in my kids stockings. They love to play them and surprisingly enough, it's not annoying. The sound is not shrilling,but more mellow so it's easy on our ears. It's a nice addition to the kids instrument collection.

If you've heard the whistles in Carnival parade music, this is the one you heard! It has a unique and electrifying 3-tone sound like no other. The sound can be varied somewhat by covering individual whistle components with a finger, if you like, but I think it loses something when you do. It's also quite loud! Definitely a specialty item, but just plain fun to own, too! This is from LP's Aspire line. They also make a gold-toned, aluminum premium version under the LP name, but it's considerably more expensive - typically $30-35 discounted.

This DOES NOT teach proper methods for learning the whistle. You don't tongue the whistle like you do western instruments, it is for emphasis only. The songs in the book are not traditional. The whistle is only ok for someone beginning. The coating peels off in a messy way. I spent more and bought at proper book and a better flute. It's worth it in the end.

Hey they have good beer, so I figured that somehow they would have a nice whistle. But in all seriousness, I have enjoyed this product so far. The whistle is light and has a nice sound. It comes with a CD and a tune book that gives you a quick overview of music and some songs with the fingering under each note; which is helpful since the quick overview of music is not nearly enough. So if you are a beginner, such as I, you would be best off buying The Complete Irish Tin Whistle Tutor in addition to this product.
