If you read the notes that come with this CD, you can read all of the terrific reviews from the past that Graham has recieved, so I wont put them here. This CD very acurately captures how clearly Graham understands the Baroque trumpet and Baroque music in general. His interpretations are always tastefull, and he plays with the audience, (live or not) in mind. I HIGHLY recomend this CD to any trumpet player looking for a recording, of a step forward for the trumpet; something which happens to be very hard to find today.

I have multiple different recordings of Handel's Water Music, and this is by far the best. Each part is played by a single player, rather than the section of a chamber orchestra. Each player is an accomplished soloist, so they each bring a soloist's interpretation of their part. The result is an amazing work of art. As a former string player, I highly recommend you buy this album. My only regret is that the Chamber Soloists of Washington didn't record more works.

This is a refreshing and heartwarming selection of classicial music. Elmar shines with his unbelievable talented fingers moving like silk across the strings. I, especially enjoyed the background music of the symphony so very much, it was the prefect blend of violin and strings. I am a mere beginner in classical music, having seen Elmar play at my best friends funeral this past June. I was so moved, I rushed to find more of his music, which i found at your site..THANK YOU!!!! I have listen to other CDs featuring Elmar but they had a piano background and I did not enjoy that as much. I am now online searching for more CDs featuring him and i am hoping I will enjoy any of them as much as I have this one, even my thirteen year old daughter listens to this CD in my car with me. Elmar is ... Read More

To anyone who loves the oboe, this CD is worth buying if only for John de Lancie's famous rendition of the Marcello Concerto (the whole concerto is here), which is the best I have ever heard. His interpretation of the soaring slow movement is especially beautiful. The sound is very clear and the other selections (including a delightful version of Vivaldi's "Spring" concerto with flute instead of violin) are quite good, with perhaps a little too much emphasis on the pompous... But never mind all that: if you like the oboe as much as I do, this is probably one of the best available examples of de Lancie's wonderful sound and definitely worth the price of the whole CD!

This CD contains two of George Frideric Handel's most famous works. "Water Music" premiered in July 1717 during a water party for King George I on the River Thames, and "Music for the Royal Fireworks" was composed for an April 1749 fireworks display that commemorated the end of the War of the Austrian Succession.

"Music for the Royal Fireworks" is very majestic, and "Water Music" evokes a sense of well-being and warmth (a great listen on a cold, rainy day). This disc would be a great addition to any classical music library.
