Irish pianist John O'Conor has eloquent phrasing, and impeccable technique. And this album is proof of that...21 beautiful songs, played as only a pianist of the highest caliber can play them. This album is very highly recommended. You don't have to be a classical connossieur to enjoy it...I most certainly am not. A lot of the pieces are very familiar, and as you hear them, you may find yourself saying "Oh, I know that song". This is the album that opened me up to more classical works, and since aquiring this, I have purchased more works by the composers on this album.

I've had the great pleasure of working with Richard on a number of recording sessions and I can tell you first hand that he is Top-Notch. Richard plays with a passion that I dare say awes anyone listening. I've known no other musician with a greater love of his music or his instrument than Richard Dowling and I am anxiously awaiting the release of his second Chopin album. Any of Richard's CD's will surely delight and amaze you.

Lincoln Mayorga has been one of the finest pianist emerged from USA in decades, to my view, he has been the other pianist capable to pay Brahms with such admirable capacity of magic rapture together with the unforgettable Julius Katchen and in minor level, Gary Graffman.. As a matter of fact his Haendel are placed among the supreme versions ever recorded. The fact he has been an underrated pianist is a curious phenomena that results hard to understand. So, I don't hesitate just for a second to recommend you this album, because we are talking about one of the most gifted, sensitive and full rounded American pianists in decades.

Godowsky's Études, though composed so long ago, are still a challenge even to the very finest pianists playing and recording out there today. It might seem odd that one's willing to buy these Études after listening to Hamelin and Carlos Granto, who kind of seemed to have given the last word on the subject. Not so. I think the best way to help you decide whether or not to buy this item is by stating a simple fact that I singled out as one of the - if not the - most important features of this review: I saw, I listened to him playing these pieces live. I only listened to the recording of Chopin's Ballade in g-minor, but the recording of that particular piece is just horrendous. Missed notes everywhere and just utterly listless. It's a shame that such a recording was made of a piece that has so much beauty and power.

This is a CD of the famous 14 waltzes by Chopin. Although played correct technically I found that I did not feel any emotion from pianist. It is missing something, i cannot excactly describe what. It'll like the pianist is playing the music as homework and just has to get it over with. I had an original old tape version that was destroyed and wanted to replace it. is this cd actually played by Dubravka Tomsic, I don't know, after feeling a bit dry, I discovered that other reviewers questioned whether it was actually played by this famous person (who to be honest I don't know). It;s missing something, but the pieces are played correctly on time, on queue, and in technical fashion.
