I spent the first ten years of my life on the shores of Lake Michigan, swimming on days when folks in other parts of the country would wear a jacket. They have a different definition of "hot" up there. Apparently their thermal definitions extend to the musical world as well. For this is not hot music. Warmish maybe, the temperature of a cup of tea that is almost, but not quite, undrinkable. There are no standout tracks on this CD. No stinkers either. Just pleasant enough, standard issue Twenties stuff, that vanishes as soon as the track completes. Here's a quote from the back of the CD "I regard each 78 rpm recording as a complete historical and sociological document through which the entire development of jazz cane be documented, traced and studied and I want to share this music with you all." ... I discovered Mayumi by accident, listened to some samples, and I was blown away. It has tons of great songs. The vocals are gorgeous, the rhythms are completely infectious. Just pop it in and it brings your whole energy level up. This woman is such a largely undiscovered treasure.

"Broken China" came out in 1996, on the heels of Pink Floyd's "PULSE*," and just like listening to any solo effort by any of the others, one can hear the ingredients he contributed to the Pink Floyd juggernaut. And here, he had help from fellow post-Waters Floyd bandmates Tim Renwick and Anthony Moore. Renwick played guitar behind Gilmour and Moore contributed to the writing as well. On September 18th, I read about the September 15th death of Wright, and as usual, news like this jarred me. It's odd, some people you have never met, people like Wright, become a part of your life, and when they're gone, there is an emptiness where they once were. Well, where do I start? This CD is an amazing compilation of Canada's greatest ska bands. If you are into ska then you are into this. A true ska fan already owns this CD so if you are a true ska fan and you don't have this CD, tisk tisk. There is nothing bad with CD except for the fact that it ends. I would reccomend this CD to anyone and everyone.5 stars is just not enough. The best tracks on this CD are 1 to 16. As you can see I am a true ska fan. And I love this CD!!!

This CD is absolutely beautiful! Hayley's voice is possibly the best female's voice that I have ever heard. Every note is hit perfectly. I am just in awe of her talent. There is an excellent mixture of classical, pop, and hymn-like music on this CD. My personal favorites would have to be Benedictus, Who Painted the Moon Black, and Heaven. I would highly recommend this enhanced version. The extra CD has 7 extra beautiful songs on it, including 3 Christmas songs.
