That is what many people call this phenomenal singer, and dynamic he is. There have not been too many non-operatic singers with the power and huge range of Jimmy Roselli, and the selections on this CD show the full extent of his voice, which is unique in sound and style.
The songs:
"Passione" is my top choice of the selections gathered here. The intro alone would make this a 5 star CD; it is a great performance with emotion pouring forth in every phrase of this Italian favorite.
"Mala Femmena" is a signature song for Jimmy, and it is a winner.
"The Sheik of Araby" is a fun song, and somewhat reminiscent of Bobby Darin's version of "Mack the Knife".
"I Get the Blues When it Rains" is a big band show stopper, and one where I marvel at Jimmy's breath control.

This is lovely music for a romantic evening, if you want to try something different than the usual Sinrata, Tony Bennett, etc.

This is the second volume in the Como Boxed Set and includes most of his hits from the 50's into the early 60's. It's a tragedy that most people under forty don't even know who Perry Como is and few have ever been exposed to his music. This album will introduce to some marvelous music, sung by the inimitable Perry Como. As a fan of Perry, Sinatra and Bing Crosby, comparisons to their voices is inevitable. Perry modeled himself closely after Bing and the influence clearly shows. His voice wasn't as deep and his range wasn't as great, but his voice was more mellifluous and mellow, particularly as he aged.

I enjoy Perry's music as he got older. He learned how to use his vocal instrument more effectively as he got older. My only regret is the omission of Perry's last great song, "Wing Beneath ... Read More

I have another CD by Daryl Sherman which I like but wasn't knocked over by, but friends kept telling me, she is unbelievable. This CD, in partnership with the always wonderful Dave McKenna, completely won me over. The CD is a tribute to four great musical personalities who happened to all have a centenary in the same year, Duke Ellington (one of my musical passions), Fred Astaire (another passion), Hoagy Carmichael and Noel Coward (whose music I love). Mr. McKenna gives the album a swinging undercurrent and Ms Sherman is right there with him. I discovered two songs by Duke Ellington that were previously unknown to me, C'est Comme Ca a gorgeous ballad as only Duke could write one and Swingtime in Honolulu which is hysterically funny and as un Ellington in style as you could find. Both receive treasurable ... Read More
