Ghost doesn't disappoint with this 3rd classic release in so little time. The beats and rhymes are way above par. No doo doo lyrics and music that's not the same boring junk you hear coming from those rappers made for teenie boppers. This album is certified dope.

Simplicity of Expression - A timeless treasure.
My "Depth of thought" - with resellers asking for over $80, it might as well be in Davey Jones' locker. Meanwhile I will be praying that SoE:DoT gets re-released so mates can afford it.

Not the greatest live recording (doesn't compare to the quality of Duke/Cobham "Live"), but some great tunes and some great playing, especially by Tom Scott and Steve Khan. Like others here, I owned the album in the '70's, and to have it come out on CD is a dream come true. It's a true shame that the kids of today don't have bands like this as part of their growing up - amazing musicianship that has stuck with me for 30 years. Sure, there are a few bands of quality out there, but there's nothing like what we had with the jazz/fusion revolution of the '70's.

Sooner or later I had to get to Ayreon

Should any of my readers not know who Ayreon is, let me edify you. Ayreon is not a band, not really. Neither is Ambeon. Let me explain. Ayreon and Ambeon are projects, you might say alter egos of brilliant Dutch composer and musician, Arjen Anthony Luccassen.

You see, Arjen has borrowed one from the book of the ever successful recording broker, Alan Parsons. He composes a Rock Opera and then like the mice followed the Pied Piper into the river, several well known, at least to me, guest singers and musicians follow our piperish leader, Arjen, into the studio to record, this wonderful music.

Now Arjen hasn't used this successful formula once or twice. No he's made eight exciting albums this way, two of which are double albums. Mind ... Read More

There is no doubt that Arjen Lucassen could easily earn a living from the creativity in his writing alone but this album is pleasantly different and well articulated with the music; his canvas (and that`s another story all together). Disc one is slightly mellower with a bit of a psychedelic aura to it. Deep Purple anyone? Whilst Disc two delivers a harder punch and a little more diverse sound, with some dark elements even, so I do find myself playing it more often, a lot more often.

I find this to be a project based on a series of varied ingredients, both musical and lyrical. The depth of meaning behind EVERY track is incredibly satisfying and authentic. Regardless of how irrational the story might be at a first glance, it is dressed in a graceful façade and with a larger than life message anywhere ... Read More

Note: this is an excellent album from a movie about a real 'school of rock'. The students actually rehearse and perform real rock songs with 'real' stars -- songd that the rock stars made into hits. It should not be confused with the soundtrack from a similarly titeld movie featuring Jack Black. IN the other movie, Jack black plays an obnoxiously useless lay-bout who fronts a no-talent band, but somehow lands a teaching job. That movie, and the soundtrack, are both atrocious.

This CD featuers a mix of well-known, and obscure songs, which are in many cases done better than the originals.

BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS:
-------------
Barracuda (HEART's Ann Wilson);
Don't Stand So Close To Me (THE POLICE's Stewart Copeland)
Hocus Pocus (by Focus -- all students on this one)
Peace Sells ... Read More

I chose Fiddler for my students' spring musical, and always like to get the original cast recording to help give me an idea of the original idea for the pieces in the show. This recording definitely delivers, and the interview with Sheldon Harnick at the end is an extra treat. Awesome CD!
