This is a good CD as far as the content of the CD, BUT whoever made this CD had no consideration of the recording levels between tracks. One song will be nice a smooth and quiet, then the next track will blow you away. It literally wakes up my child after he has fallen asleep. Out of a volume scale of 10 we have the first song on 5 to barely have it playing in the background for him to sleep, then the next track we have to turn it to 2 becasue it wakes him up, then we have to adjust it to 4 on the next. SOOOO if you are going to stay with him the whole time and be able to change the volume for each song, this CD is for you. I wish I can get my money back but it has been too long. Sooo on to find the next CD for him!...

It is hard to find covers like Kashmir with Ann Wilson and Roger Daltrey, this CD begins with a circa 8 min long version with outstanding orchestration and Daltrey efforts to reach the notes, but his voice even now likes me more than Robert Plant's...well, that's the reason i don't like Led Zep but the covers indeed.

A lot of the performances are horrid, some of the arrangements are insipid. There ended up being about 30 tunes and songs here that were of interest--and over 100 that I'll never listen to again. In many ways, it's a beautifully packaged vanity project of limited interest musically.

because of the various venues the tracks have pauses(gaps) & fades in & out. Better editing could have improved this recording. Otherwise great sound & good performance.

I have been aware of Manfred Mann for a long time, thanks to the endless cycling of his smash hit remake of Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" on classic rock radio stations here in Massachusetts. Although I was a little uncertain, the positive reviews of Solar Fire by other proggers, the Gustav Holst-ish Planets theme, and the album cover art (which depicts a very cool star field) were far too much to resist. The Solar Fire album was released in 1973 and features great keyboardist Manfred Mann himself (Hammond organ, mellotron, mini-moog); along with a cast of very good musicians including Colin Pattenden (Rickenbacker bass); Chris Slade (drums); and Mick Rogers (guitars, lead vocals). These duets are wonderful. Sinatra had such style. There will never be anyone like him. The duets on these CDs are fabulous. The people who sing with Sinatra did a great job and the songs chosen were great. I would recommend this CD to anyone who is a Sinatra fan.
