I bought the first LP version in 1973, then the cassette later on and now the CD. No way this album could be improved for those living the golden era of pop music circa 1965. It truly leaves nothing out. Fromthe cartoon cover to the jingles, to the airchecks to the song selection. In fact the whole Crusin' series is top notch but 1965 is the best of the best.

The four-disk THE SUPREMES covers the singing group's recording history. This collection starts with several songs when, as a quartet, the group used the name the Primettes. The fourth disk comprises the Supremes' later recording career, after Diana Ross went solo, the song "Stone Love" the biggest of that era.

If it's going to include Primettes tunes and an entire CD of post-Ross Supremes songs, you would think THE SUPREMES also has all the hits from the trio's heyday. But for some strange reason, "The Happening" and "Stop! In the Name of Love," two essential Supremes records, appear only in alternate takes, not the versions you have heard on the radio your whole life. So if you own no Supremes records and think you can get everything you'd want with this 4-disk collection, you ... Read More

Available both as a 4CD box set and in a limited edition with a bonus 5th disc, this is a beautifully packaged collection, lovingly put together with the collector in mind, featuring a number of rare and unreleased tracks and mixes on each disc, many making their CD debut, with extensive essays, photos and track details.

Disc One begins with the single an early line-up made as the Primettes for the LuPine label before they signed to Motown. Although Florence Ballard was the group's founder and leader, Diane Ross (as she was in those days) takes the lead, with Mary Wilson leading on the flip where Flo does the intro vocal. Both sides are fairly scratchy dubbings but are real rarities. A previously unreleased version of the Miracles' After All represents their first Motown recording session ... Read More

In 1993 Motown released a series of low priced Legends audio cassettes and CDs, which included bonus selections on the CD format. This CD one of the two released by Diana Ross & The Supremes, was originally titled "Come See About Me" and besides the title hit cut, included the hits "Stop! In The Name of Love" and "The Happening." The version of "Unchained Melody,' is from The Supremes album "I Hear A Symphony," and "Misery Makes It's Home In My Heart" from their "Reflections,"album. "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted," first appeared on the album "Let The Sunshine In." The rest of the selections were unreleased tracks that first appeared on their "25th Anniversary," album as was the cover photo. The compilation was re-released and repackaged with the same title, as part of another low priced series called Motown ... Read More
