This is a 2 CD set of 9 to 12 minute High Energy Megamixes or "Medleys". The Medleys feature one Artist or Group each. The recording, music and mixing are great. I rated this 3 stars because THE VOCALS ARE NOT BY THE ORIGINAL ARTISTS. This was the only thing that I was disappointed with. Made in Australia.

I heard Swing The Mood on the radio and for the CD through Google. I was mainly looking for it because of the one song, but I was very happy to hear all the other songs on the CD as well. I'll be watching for many more Jive Bunny selections in the future.

Getting all ABBA's CDs in a box set for $100 sounded appealing to me. But, I'm more interested in fidelity of sound than in fancy packaging. The lyrics to all the songs are not included in this set. None of them are. Also, the remastering here is significantly inferior to European imports produced in the summer of 2001, in my opinion. I think the remastering on the "Waterloo" import from June 2001 is the best I've ever heard on an ABBA CD, even though the disc appears to be CD-R. With the above issues in mind, I am not impressed with the "paper sleeve" LP-style packaging on this box set, either. My recommendation would be to purchase ABBA's first five albums produced in Europe in June 2001, while they are still available. Although there are a few good songs on ABBA's last few albums, I feel ... Read More

This 21-track collection of Motown floor-fillers is conceived and compiled by Richard Searling, presenter of Soul Sauce on Jazz FM in the UK, who explains in the extensive sleeve notes that it is intended 'to pay tribute to the true "underground" heritage of arguably the most important American soul label ever'.

To this aim he has gathered up many rare and previously unreleased gems as well as some more well known pieces such as as Martha and the Vandellas' You've Been In Love Too Long and Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's California Soul (actually Valerie Simpson depping for Tammi). From this collection it would seem that he favours the Northern Soul end of the Motown oeuvre.

As always one is amazed that so many top quality recordings have languished in a vault for so ... Read More

My knowledge of this band is limited to their one bigtime hit Come and get your love.I remember a few of their albums, and they always stired a fascination in me to try and categorise their sound. But that is something that you really can't do expecially the more famillar you become with them. Like a lot of people, I do remember them playing a lot on Midnight special, and In concert, for those of you who remember when TV was more Music friendly, Oh those early too mid 70's. But back too this cd, I think this cd is recorded very well, and for those of you like myself who have little or no knowledge of this band. I think you will not only be surprised, but entertained! They are very accomplished musicians and definetly know how too get the audience going. The R&B and Jazz Influences run rampant here, ... Read More

Tommy Tate, born in Homestead, Florida on 29 September 1944 but raised in Mississippi, and who began his career singing and playing drums at clubs in and around Jackson, has been alternately described as "the greatest singer you've never heard" and "America's best kept secret." A major reason was ultimately putting his fate long-term in the hands of one Johnny Baylor at KoKo Records in the early 1970s.

Before then he had joined Tim Whitsett & The Imperial Show Band, an all-white orchestra extremely popular at southeastern colleges and universities in Mississippi and can be heard on two of their most popular records, The Whole World Is The Same on Musicor 1340, and Stand By Me on Big Ten 1003. When the band dissolved sometime in 1970 Tate was signed as a songwriter at Stax Records, ... Read More
