I've been a big fan of Red Cafe since I first heard him as 1/3 of the group Da Franchise (when he was known as R.C.), back around the year 1999 and finally get to hear a full album from him, after hearing him on around 2 dozen songs or so as a guset or on mixtapes with a freestyle or song here and there. Though the album is short, with only 12 songs, it is definitley worth it, and a top 3 album from this year so far (with Killah Priest's "The Offering" and Joell Ortiz "The Brick: Bodega Chronicles"). Of the 12 songs, guests are on all but 3 songs, but the guests are, for the most part, all worthy of their part. Richard Ray plays guitar, blues harp and sings. He is a versatile performer who has spent 20 years in Eupope and recently returned home. This is an excellent CD by a very talented musician.

They released four studio albums from 1984-88, but for whatever reason never quite found the success that their peers in Ratt and Motley Crue achieved. Musically the band had a sound that was equal parts Ratt and King Kobra. It was definitely L.A. hair metal, but instead of being overly sleazy it had an AOR polish.
