I enjoyed this CD because I like the tenors on it very much, and it included a number of selections where the three men are singing together, or cooperatively and that was the best part.

I own both archieve albums on records as There were no CDs when I bought them.I may tend to be a bit bias as Mr. Di Stefano is and always has been my favoite singer.Here we hear a 23 year old voice which is still in need of voice lessons,but the raw beauty of the voice and his passion and warm feeling come through beautifully.Both albums are a must have for anybody who loves raw,young singing.

I ordered despite seeing on line before purchase that most of the selections were in the massive, beautifully executed Pavarotti Edition. I hoped the extras would be worth the expense. Unfortunately, the execution was shoddy. The set in packaged in flimsy cardboard. The discography is limited to his Universal-labels sound recordings-no DVDS, no EMI, no RCA, and, of course, none of the many unauthorized issues of opera-house performance recordings. The biography is meagre, the booklet attains its length by providing multiple translations, and unlike the Edition, song texts and translations are absent. Pavarotti lovers should buy the Edition; at best the Story is for those unfamiliar with the great tenor.

Beniamino Gigli (1890 - 1957) was one of the greatest all times tenors. He can be compared with Enrico Caruso, Tito Schipa or more recent Luciano Pavarotti. He was a major opera singer, but what Italian tenor could resist singing Neapolitan popular songs? No one, least of all Mr. Gigli. His open heart is here, in each "canzzoneta", we can feel his soul flowing from his extraordinary voice. My grandmother told me of the commotion this tenor produced in Buenos Aires in 1919, for her, he was the greatest of all tenors that sang at the Colon Opera Theater. Looking for some other CD I came across this collection and recalled my grandma's advice.
