I love this CD and would definitely recommend it to anyone out there who is a blues fan to give it a listen - I purchased my copy from www.CDBaby.com for $15 and it was worth every penny (not sure why it's so expensive on Amazon?). Guitar style is similar to a wide range of better known blues/rock artists: Jimi Hendrix, Coco Montoya, Michael Burks, Joe Bonamassa, and Leslie West, to name a few. Wolters Band has a new CD release (May 2006) called "As The Crow Flies" that is perhaps a bit better than "Broken Glass." Before I get to the actual review of these two wonderful albums, I would like to address some of the unscrupulous and unethical activities that music labels, such as the one in question, engage in. In the `editorial review' portion of this page, you will notice that the recoding label states that "These albums have been remastered from premium quality sources with the utmost of care and released here in their original stereo versions." This description makes it sound as if this CD has good sound quality when, in fact, it has nothing of the sort. Although I ultimately do not want to dissuade anyone from purchasing this CD, it should be mentioned that all tracks are victim of a rather loud and obtrusive hiss. Saw this show live at Hibiya Park in Tokyo Summer of 1981. I was spending a week there on vacation from Hiroshima and was scanning the papers for a show. Knew nothing at all about Masayoshi Takanaka but since I was heavily into fusion at the time I went to the show. It was misting rain and they had a wide angle blue floodlight behind the stage that bathed the air over the audience's head with a curtain of light. The show was spectacular! The backup group was tight and you could tell the band was having a good time. Like another reviewer said, very reminiscent of Carlos Santana. I still have a virgin vinyl press of the concert that I picked up when I got back to base.
