Source: Studio recording made on October 11, 1956 in Torino. Like many publications of the Italian Cetra organization, I presume that it was initially used for broadcast, then subsequently issued for sale to the public.

Sound: Good 1950s Italian mono. A 2002 digital remastering has eliminated the notorious Cetra hard edge to reveal a quite decent soundscape.

Cast: Mefistofele - Giulio Neri; Faust - Ferruccio Tagliavini; Margherita - Marcella Pobbe; Marta - Ebe Ticozzi; Wagner / Nereo - Armando Benzi; Elena - Disma De Cecco; Pantalis - Ede Marietti Gandolfo. Conductor: Angelo Questa with the Orchestra Simfonico di Torino della RAI and Coro del Teatro Regio di Torino.
