I bought it because it's suppose to help relax your dog. I'm not sure how much it's working for him, though he does seem to be more relaxed, but I just love it.

Perfect just before bedtime. What shall I say? It is an offbeat, out-of-the-mainstream classic musical collection. Segovia is legendary for merging guitar music with orchestra. I recommend this collection as an inexpensive CD for a high school or college beginning guitar class, and by all means, I would suggest it to satisfy any music appreciation course requirement. Some of the selections, as Sarabande, will be vaguely familiar. I missed one of two required guitar ensembles, and had to buy something from a short list. Out of respect for two guitar masters, it is a level to aspire to, but it is not all that artistically entertaining- at least to me or my brother. In fact, my brother lent me a cassette tape he found that makes these two virtuousos boringly slow of movement, and the cassette ... Read More

4.The Art of Guitar by: Johann Sebastian Bach, Andres Segovia, John Williams

This CD is a cruel joke on all who know and venerate Segovia's playing and contribution to the guitar. Were there a zero star rating, I would use it. The sound of the Segovia Bach is grotesquely bad, less clear than, say, a hand-held dictation recorder. The Williams pieces, in apparent sympathy, are almost as bad, though there is no apparent reason that we couldn't have better clarity from more modern recordings. I am neither kidding nor being malicious: for example, the overloading on crescendi is so bad that it is painful to hear. If you want to understand Segovia's impact on classical music, save the 7 bucks that you would have spent for this CD and get the Deutsche Grammaphon "Art of Segovia" instead.

I was expecting this to be a wonderful cd. The pieces themselves are very good, but the sound quality is SO bad it is unlistenable. A very big disappointment. Go to the Segovia collections and the newer Williams recordings for the right stuff.

A local New York professional opera enthusiast has concluded that Corelli is the most popular operatic tenor, followed by Jussi Bjoerling. But if the question is, who had the most beautiful tenor voice ever impressed upon wax, we must lift up John McCormack. Here is true bel canto which no one else has ever equalled. These two CD's contain some of the most exquisite sounds ever issued by a human throat. Let the galleries declare their enthusiasm for stentorian high C's, the real lover of great singing will find much more to their like her than in all the verisssimo arias. Listen to the two "Mefistofele" Arias (Boito) and ask yourself if they have ever since been so beautifully sung. This recording belongs in the collection of every aspiring tenor, just to remind what can be accomplished by art ... Read More

Just listen... York is a very good composer (would John Williams and so many others record his pieces otherwise?); and yes the Bach piece is great, but the rest are more of what I have come to love of Andrew York.
