If you are looking for a smooth and laid back house compilation, then you have come to the right place. This is a well mixed compilation. I prefer disc one to disc two though, not that disc 2 is whack. But the first cd is nicer. A song to look out for is that "Moisture Control" kiss your dreams. That joint is of the hook. I gotta warn you though, be careful while listenin to this cd or else you will find yourself addicted.

Not much reason to promote it since there isnt much here to sell people on.

Twisted used to be quite the leader in house music during its heydays of the mid 90's. Fast forward to late 2003 and instead of the high powered, big room stompers the label used to deliver, we are subjected to what seems to be someones inept attempt to appear 'underground'. Sometimes the 'underground' can be a good thing, but in this circumstance it feels like an amateur is trying to reproduce what a 'legendary' DJ might sound like if they had this same limited selection of music to work with. We cant all be Danny T. or Junior V. etc.. etc.. and some DJ's dont figure this out until its too late. Unless you have the credentials to pull it off, most of the time you will come off as a cheap imitation. This ... Read More

We're all getting tired of carbon copy garage rock and dance punk. Fortunately, The Wildlife add a new twist: lofi techno, 70s r&b and light funk. The result is a mellower, but thankfully different, garage rock. I give it 3 stars in regards to my enjoyment of the album, of which I'm just lukewarm, but they get an extra star for bringing something new to the mix.

I'm glad Rough Trade are putting these compilaions out. There is a steady stream of Rough Trade Shops discs, this one is made up of songs Rough Trade thinks are the best releases from 2002. It's a mixed bag, as you might have predicted. Still, the good thing about this and other Rough Trade Shops compilations is that they seem to deliberately pick obscure tracks you are never likely to hear on your own.

Case in point is the remarkable song "Midas" by Rubicks. Rubicks is a bit of an unknown UK band who only put this song out on their own label on 7" only. Virtually nothing is known of this band but please try to imagine a merging of New Order (circa 1986)/Human League/Bj?rk and then you will have an idea why this song needs to be played over and over agian.

This is a must-have compilation for those building an 80s music collection. These are songs mostly from the early eighties. There is very little overlap between this compilation and the many other New Wave compilations out there...so chances are you will not find many of these tracks elsewhere. I first purchased this disc when it was released in 1992 and have never grown tired from listening to it.

Yes, the "Nowhere Girl" track is the long six-minute version with the piano introduction. This one track is worth the price of admission alone. This, along with Tim Scott's "Swear" I have not seen on any other compilation. Not all the songs are New Wave and from the 80s...there are at least two Punk Rock tracks and the "Pop Muzik" track is actually from 1979; this is mostly a ... Read More
