Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RQ2EZE1MYE7UA Despite hailing from Oregon, Black `n Blue was a pretty active player in the L.A. metal scene. They released four studio albums from 1984-88, but for whatever reason never quite found the success that their peers in Ratt and Motley Crue achieved. Musically the band had a sound that was equal parts Ratt and King Kobra. It was definitely L.A. hair metal, but instead of being overly sleazy it had an AOR polish.

In 2005, Majestic Records reissued all four Black `n Blue studio albums with digitally remastered sound. They also released a limited edition box set that included all four albums as well as a bonus DVD. As you can see, the packaging leaves something to be desired, but for those who missed the Black `n Blue albums the first ... Read More

This one has some good tracks but it is my least favorite of the Miss Moneypenny's compilations. For those who don't know Miss Moneypenny's is a dance club in the UK that is all about funky house and the albums represent this.

This one, however, is not as consistent as the others. I find myself skipping over quite a few tracks I don't like during those rare times I choose to put this one in. For the absolute best, far and away top Miss Moneypenny's album, get "Funky House - the sound of Miss Moneypenny's" if you can find it. It'll be worth the search. It is the best funky house album I've ever found.

Also if you like the sound of the Moneypenny's albums, you might want to check out the album "DJ Disciple New York City 100% dance volume 2 international house vibes". It's not exactly ... Read More

Any album by "Various Artists" always seems to fail because you end up only liking the feel of 80% of the stuff. This album, however, a collection of remixes holds together incredibly well under the genre which Readymade Records has almost singlehandedly invented, Loungecore Breakbeat. Most songs hover around the 140-150 bpm mark. The Lupin remixes may get a bit repetetive to some, but for anyone with a serious interested in Pizzicato 5 and the Japanese scene, this album is a mandatory purchase.

ROLLING STONE says:
Suzi Quatro -- in and out of her "Leather Tuscadero" character -- aside, garage rock has never had much of a tough-chick presence. This Windy City combo has spent the better part of a half-decade remedying that situation, doling out fuzzed guitars and sneered vocals with just the right blend of threat and ennui. On this, their third album, the Dishes have ramped things up another notch, as evidenced by the opening spazz-out "Got Something to Tell You," a tune that burns the psychic equivalent of crop circles into the grey matter with nine minutes of wildly spinning riffage, courtesy of lead guitarist Kiki Yablon. With that out of their system, the quartet gets back to sonic sprints, with singer Sarah Staskaukas squalling sensually-yet-snottily through lust bombs like "Blow Me Up (But Don't ... Read More

I was at my local used c.d. store ; ' Reckless Records ' in Chicago , Il......I saw this behind the counter....have always been a HUGE fan of V.U.....knew that this box set was considered the ' Holy Grail ' of V.U. compilations....was in mint condition so I gobbled it up......came home and played it...all I can say is that THIS box BLOWS AWAY ' Peel Slowly and See '...it's out of print? on an Aussie label 'Raven' so might be tough to find ...... I'll also say that the sound is SUPERLATIVE to P.S.A.S.....as are the track selections / little rare tid-bits , and a GREAT book.......and the little sound bites of Andy Warhol in the early days is VERY cool !.....You know the track listings and all that so I'll spare you.... P.S.A.S. really should have been this good , but they dropped the ball in a lot of respects...this ... Read More
