David's cd is great.He's very talented when it comes to music.I use to go out to a friend Tommy Buck's and watch him jam.It was realy great to be able to sit there and watch someone so talented jam.He is a one of a kind.I hope the days to come will bring us more of David Tomme's music.

For years, I have always wanted a copy of the soundtrack of The Tales of Hoffman. I had the LP from the 50's and it was badly scratched. When I heard that this was finally available on CD, I was overjoyed. And true to form, it exceeded my expectations as I now have a portable soundtrack which I can play in the car, in the plane, in my home. If you saw this movie and always wanted a copy of the soundtrack...this is it!!!! Enjoy it as I have.

What a joy to find this recording! It was originally broadcast live from the San Francisco Opera in 1973. The cast is Joan Sutherland (Rosalinde), Nolan Van Way (Eisenstein), Judith Blegen (Adele), Ragnar Ulfung (Alfred), Huguette Tourangeau (Orlofsky), Bruce Yarnell (Falke), Daniel Sullivan (Dr. Blind), Spiro Malas (Frank), and Walter Slezak (Frosch). Richard Bonynge conducts. Musically, this performance just can't be beat. Sutherland sings with beauty, intelligence, and a sure flair for comedy. Incidental music for the television series The Prisoner. Albert Elms composed original music for it, but he also stuck in pieces from a BBC music archive of some sort. This cd has the (wildly different from each other) archive pieces. They include the jazz music from Mme Engadine's party, the jazz music from No. 6's speech in Fall Out, and the calm music from when he gets back to London (some of my favourites). Also included is Age of Elegance, the alternate main title theme by Ron Grainer made before he wrote the regular one.

I really like this CD. If you're looking for something fun & bounchy, this is it. The sound quality is something else. This CD was mastered off of vinyl LP's complete with all the pops & crackles. I'd love to see a modern release of this CD from a decent source.
