The fifth track on this album features a great presentation of his "Grass Roots" speech (House Negro vs. Field Negro). Not much could keep Malcolm X from getting five stars in any review but the three stars offered here are for these speeches being excerpts. Most of them are missing the emotional build-up that almost inevitably preceded the portions of the speeches on this recording. This is my first Christine Kane album and I will be buying more. I originally heard "Roses" on a Putamayo compilation and loved it. The rest of this album did not dissapoint. It only took me one listen to discern 4 or 5 new favorites, I'm going to be giving this album as a gift to many of my friends.

I remember Sugar On Sunday. It was a great top 30 (#25) hit. I also remember a suburban Chicago FM station, WEXI, played I'll Hold Out My Hand (The second release from the album to chart,#45). Brings back a lot of memories. Growing up in the 60's and 70's listening to top 40 on WLS and WCFL was good stuff. Living in Chicago then we were lucky to have two major 50KW powerhouse AM's, playing top 40 to choose from.
