I love it when I happen upon a little music gem, such as Escho Funi, Vol. 1. Even though years has passed since its release in 2001, I still find the beats and the melodies timeless and enduring. My favorite tracks are: Airstream...the voice is ethereal and puts you in a beautiful mood like no other. Shine On Ain't No Ceiling Feeling Me, Feeling You Overall, this is a beautifully mixed cd and should be apart of any house music lover's collection. I am anxious to see what other gems Julius Papp has to offer.

The exquisite I can't let Maggie go, a top ten UK hit in 1968, is all that anybody ever remembers Honeybus for. They were true one-hit wonders, as nothing else so much as grazed the charts. What surprised me was that somebody found enough material to fill two CD's. The first CD contains the A and B-sides of seven singles plus all the tracks from their only album, Story. The second CD is made up of previously unreleased demos, some BBC sessions and tracks recorded for a 1973 reunion album that was aborted before it was complete, plus both sides of an Italian single. Honeybus were an excellent band from the late 60's UK music scene that had great musical chops, beautiful vocal harmonies, and a knack for coming up with brilliant pop tunes (primarily from Pete Dello and Ray Cane). Their sound brings to mind Hollies, Badfinger, Simon & Garfunkel, late Move/early ELO, and of course, the Fab Four. "I Can't Let Maggie Go" was, unfortunately, their only big hit. "(Do I Figure) In Your Life"--later covered by Joe Cocker--and a bunch of the other tunes including the entire "Story" LP (tracks 1-12 of CD) should have been topping the charts but went criminally unnoticed by the record buying public at large.
