I bought this recording on Amazon - and paid more - because it listed 24 tracks, not just the 16 track version I have seen elsewhere. When I received my CD it had only the 16 tracks, cutting off 17-24 as shown on the track listing on Amazon. If you are looking for the full Finale, plus the studio versions of many of the songs that were released on the Japanese version, and were supposed to be on this CD but are not, then don't buy this.

Simply put - Be Free is one of the best live performances you will ever hear. That track alone is worth the purchase. This is also a well-rounded album in terms of genre and career coverage. From the country medley to a bit of rock, to the musicianship of the instrumental breaks. It's difficult to believe it is all so long ago now, and more surprising it's taken this long to release on CD.

Paul McCartney purchased the Buddy Holly publishing catalogue in 1974. For some reason, he didn't decide to do a tribute album himself, but instead had given Denny Laine the task of taking on the rock 'n' roll trailblazer from Lubbock, TX. He makes the songs his own. You don't even have to be a fan of the originals. Originally released 1977 by MPL/EMI. The easiest Laine album to find.

That Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons songbook is filled with recognizable, melodic and popular harmonies is a well known fact. The art of making a play based on an artists songbook is not new and has met with varying degrees of success, proving one thing, to really play well, there must be written a strong book to go with the music.

In the case of Jersey Boys, the book is excellent. So good, that it elicits in the observer the emotions of a first rate melodrama; laughs, interesting characterizations and yes, a few tears here and there. The playwrights found enough drama in the true (ok, mostly true) story of the "Boys" to use it as their book. It is a fairly typical story of the rise to fame, complete with egos run amok, vanity on parade, jealousies and financial scandal. Another classic story ... Read More
