Playing Time - 52:27 -- Slipstream, based in Boulder, CO., is a trio that takes an innovative, forward-thinking approach to their bluegrass and acoustic music. The group is Rich Zimmerman (mandolin, vocals), Brad Murphey (guitar), and Paul Waitinas (upright bass). For a full bluegrass sound, one might immediately notice that one singer and three instrumentalists might be a little lean. However, Slipstream wisely calls upon some good friends to assist them as guest artists on their debut album, including Noam Pikleny (banjo), Rushad Eggleston (cello on 3 tracks), Jeremy Garrett (fiddle, tenor vocals), Erin Coats (tenor vocals), and Ben Winship (bouzouki or mandola on two tracks, tenor vocals). Garrett currently plays with Chris Jones and Ronnie Bowman, while Pikleny is with John Cowan. Eggleston ... Read More

24 track collection of CCR's best moments courtesy Universal Singapore. Though there is no credit re: remastering, the set is superbly remastered and rebalanced while the longer songs (I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Suzie Q) appear as single 45 rpm edits (which suits me fine anyway!). The songs are classic, the sound is remarkable. It's all on a single 2008 CD and the brief notes provide great info. What more could one ask for? Surely the time has come for Concord (who now owns Fantasy) to retire Chronicles Vol. 1 & 2 and Creedence Gold and provide fans with a proper, budget priced, superb sounding 2008 anthology (like WEA did with The Doors). Yes, the individual albums all appeared in remastered form at the end of the 90s and as great SACD hybrids in the early 2000s. Yet sadly, no newly remastered ... Read More

Wow!! What a wonderful treat for the fans and newbies who are discovering CCR. This compilation includes great tunes, just one thing, includes the short version from "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" which somebody mention it in the single disc review that belongs to the single edit version created for the 45" rpm record, same case as for Suzie Q, overall the remastering job is great and the concert is full lenght paired with the one offered as single disc in various formats. I think this is the disc to go instead of buying the chronicles, because you get 24 songs plus 14 live ones. Highly recommended!!

With Concord Music Group having purchased the Fantasy catalog, the fortieth anniversary of Creedence Clearwater Revival's debut LP provides a suitable opportunity for a fresh round of reissues. All six of the original foursome's albums (from 1968's Creedence Clearwater Revival through 1970's Pendulum) have been struck from new digital masters and augmented by previously unreleased tracks. Those who purchased the 2001 box set can pick up most of the bonus tracks separately as digital downloads (the two longest bonuses are CD-only). Those who didn't buy the box, and think they'll buy all six reissues may want to consider the box set for its inclusion of pre-Creedence work from the Blue Velvets and Golliwogs, the seventh CCR album Mardi Gras, the 1970-71 live recordings and several box-only bonuses. But for those ... Read More

This is a great collection jam packed with great ccr hits. It has all of the songs you have heard, teh ones you haven't heard, and all in great quality. If I were you, i'd do research on which album you would buy by ccr, but if you are undecided, you can't go qwrong with Platinum.

Proud Mary, Green River, Born on the Bayou, etc. are here, but, Before You Accuse Me, Looking for a Reason, Good Golly Miss Molly and Hello Mary Lou? These are good, but not greatest hits.

Where are Travelin' Band, Fortunate Son, Someday Never Comes for example. You are better off buying "Chronicle volume one" and then "Chronicle volume two."

Buyers beware!

My hat is off to the good people in Salina,KS (of all places) and the perfectionists who run Acoustic Sound Studios. If you love Creedence Clearwater Revival and know they are a band for the ages, who created timeless music, then you might be prepared for the magnificent job of restoration, mastering etc. that this box set represents. There is, as far as I know, nothing comparable technically to what has been done here. As always, good things don't come cheap---I've been waiting for this since the cd format made it's first appearance. Kudos and congratulations to all involved!!! All the studio albums are here--WOW!! The absolute best 5.1 SACD mix I've ever heard in a Rock format. ..and it's Creedence!
