There has been a long time since the "golden seventies" of soul, and I thought that I have listened all of that superb music. But I was wrong: Expansion Records has appeared with a selections of lost gems (most of them unknown by me). Don't be confused, this is not a collection of neo-soul music performed by contemporary musicians, this is the best original Philadelphia International Records selection of 70's soul that I have ever heard. You may say that a collection of PIR talents is not complete without Billy Paul or O'Jays, but you MUST listen this record first. And, of course, it is full of Gamble & Huff Production and MFSB background!!!

The 10 songs on this CD are excellent, however, it is the two bonus tracks that make this remastered CD great. It is a little misleading since the jewel case titles these tracks as two separate "dub" versions. But they are really one continuous 12" remix (i.e., both tracks flow together without a break) that was originally titled "Many a Telephone Operator (scratchbanded version)" when it was issued as the B-side of the now ultra rare Telephone Operator 12" single. It is a fabulous mix of the songs "Telephone Operator" and "Many a Time" with bridges and sound effects that still delight.

I used to have this on vinyl, back in the day. A great HOMAGE to the fab four. Still sounds great TODAY. Todd Rundgren has some serious skills. A really fun CD/ALBUM listen.
