Its a CD featuring different pop songs from gay artists, it is a great opportunity for all these singers, in all there are good and not so good songs, but there are some that are really worth while like, so i think you wont regret it. And another thing, i believe its really great that gay artists are finally getting a chance to express themselves and they want to in their music, so in a way, its a good start...

"Feel the need in me" is the type of song you hear once and feel like you have known it for years. I bought this CD for that track. The version from 1977 is a great disco classic that is not on any collection. The rest of the CD is smooth 70's soul and a great listen. Although I didn't know these songs prior to my purchase, they are virtually all catchy and I am glad I bought it.

What a wonderful collection of Bob Wills music! I've been listening to Bob Wills since my childhood and have many vinyl and CD albums. This collection surprised me with many selections that I did not already have.

I received the set for Christmas (2006) and I still listen to some part of it at least 5 days of each week. The music is pure Bob Wills as I remember it from my earliest years and the DVD tracks remind me of watching and listening to Bob Wills with my father.

If you are a nostalgic fan of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys (as I am), spend the money and buy this set. If you are just a casual fan, I'd recommend a much smaller collection of greatest hits.

Discuss rock music from 1955-1959 and the names that come up, aside from the obvious like Elvis, Haley, Holly, Berry, Little Richard, Lewis, and the Everly Brothers, will be the likes of Connie Francis, The Platters, Brenda Lee, Ricky Nelson, and maybe even Pat Boone. Seldom, if ever, will anyone think to mention Buddy Knox and Jimmy Bowen.

And yet, taking turns fronting their group, The Rhythm Orchids, they chalked up, between them, five Top 40 Pop hits, three of which crossed over onto the R&B charts, and added seven more charters that made the mid to lower regions of the Pop charts.

Knox was born in Happy, Texas on July 20, 1933 while Bowen first saw the light of day on November 30, 1937 in Santa Rita, New Mexico. After forming their group in 1956 they cut their ... Read More

I can't believe anyone would give this a decent review. It's awful. All Music Guide calls it "confused and unsuccessful," TheatreMania Guide to Musical Theatre Recordings dubs this "Not Recommended" and says "this recording is an out-and-out failure," and Musicals101 chimes in with "painfully miscast" and adds "pretentious trash." They're right.
At this point you can pick this "gem" up for less than $3!

There is no better distributor of the Golden [and Mouldy] Oldies out there than Ace Records of London. From their quality sound reproduction to their meticulous research, reflected in some of the best liner notes you will ever read [in this instance four pages by Rick Coleman, author of the Fats Domino biography Blue Monday], their products are not to be missed.

As always, mixed in the the notes are some fantastic photographs and album/45rpm/poster reproductions, and on the reverse you get a complete discography of the contents, even to the point of mentioning the films in which some selections first appeared.

If the Fats Domino singles are what you are searching for, look no further than this series. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. If only Ace could get the green light ... Read More

Richmond Special is like listening to a good CD, and not the radio.

OK, maybe somewhat a bad analogy, but an accurate analogy. I find myself wishing that either mainstream music, or even pop, or rock stations, would play something that wasn't based in the 70's, 80's or 00's. The seventies music, you have heard for thirty years. The Eighties music, twenty years, (90's music I don't hear often enough to include it, but I live in a small town in NM), and the two-thousand's (no clue what they call it) music, is generally bad - radio wise.

Thankfully, we have Richmond Special by Danny Scherr. It has a Tom Petty feel to it and it obviously is no album written by any current top 40 artist. This is evident because the lyrics make sense and the sound is amazing.
