I was excited to hear that this CD was coming out and I couldn't wait to get it, but when I got it I was alittle disipointed in it. It has a good dancing beat to it, but some of the songs you couldn't really dance to. I suggest you listen to the whole CD before you buy it.

The information on this cd is indeed incorrect. 39 tracks are listed, but only about 23 are on the cd. Some of those songs even repeat. That logic has been proven correct. QED However, I don't care. This cd has some of the best atmosphere for celebrating Oktoberfest I've ever heard. We used to do a radio show on WNUR in Chicago, and this made for fantastic background music. Catchy polkas, loud groups singing, corks popping, raucous toasts, hooting- pure atmosphere. It delivers what the title says. Know these things going in, catch it at a decent price, and hopefully you won't be disappointed. We still use it on trips to the wine country- makes me laugh every time.

For collectors who have no problem with Wozzeck, music lovers for whom the status and quality of the work are established rather than questionable, this set ought in my own opinion to be a very safe recommendation. Does anyone have a problem with its being sung in English? Part of Wagner's prospectus for his new music-dramas, and an important reason for the type of vocal lines he used, was precisely to enable them to be sung in the vernacular wherever they were performed. Demands to hear opera in its original language struck him as snobbish and irrational, and one can sympathise. However the traditional type of opera with arias made translations problematical - it would never be easy to get audiences to accept much-loved favourites like Mozart's Voi che sapete or Verdi's Di quella pira in some sort ... After 5 yrs it still sounds refreshing to me. I think the guitarist is phenomenal. Densely packed with sound effects, he takes the instrument to another universe. The brutal sound bombardment of Melt Banana works like scratching old paint off a surface: when I am bored with everything else, I play a few tracks of Melt Banana, and I've got a nice blank slate again. A magnificent band.

My husband and I fell in love with this music on our last trip to the islands. Some locals were listening to this cd on the beach at Lanikai. We searched for it everywhere. We finally found it at the Stadium Swap Meet. LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
