I really dig this CD. Its the first i have bought by them so i have to go back and get the older, 'heavier' stuff i suppose. Best way to describe this is laid back yet heavy music. Vocally, its crystal clear and soothing. The melodies are beautiful. It is progressive i suppose, but i just think its exceptional mood music. The tracks 'Maybe?' and 'Alone' are exceptional. Being a new fan i would recommend this CD highly. I plan on also getting their DVD that came out not long ago. I saw a few clips on You Tube and it has a really cool vibe. A very talented 'band' (i use the term loosely based on line up changes) and one that i plan on looking into further. According to their web site, for the time being they are no more. This is a great album, and quite refreshing I must say. If you haven't heard these guys before, then you are definitely missing out! Their sound is nothing at all like Fall Out Boy or Panic! At the Disco, the sound that's typical for a Fueled By Ramen band. I would say they are more along the line of The Hush Sound, but more edgy and rocky! Did I just say "rocky?"

This is a phenomenal CD. I first recieve FOILED for Christmas, and it became my favorite CD, so I bought History For Sale a little bit ago. It has barely left my CD Player. The wistful and almost ashamed songs such as "Ugly Side" and "Amazing are so sweet and bittersweet. My favorites have to be both versions (norm and acoustic) of "Calling You" and "Inner Glow" both of which are wonderful songs with good beats. Calling You has to be one of the most sweet, almost-stalkerish-in-a-way-we-all-feel songs I've ever heard with a wonderful, contagious beat. Inner glow just molds itself to your brain. Blue October seems a little more raucous in this CD compared to Foiled, such as "Razorblade" and I think it's title is "Somebody". "Come in Closer" is beautiful both in it's simplicity and longing. In a word, this album is amazing. I became familiar with Blue October when I took a chance on "Foiled" after hearing "Hate Me" a thousand times on the radio. Despite its ubiquitous (read: overplayed) radio success, I still hadn't tired of it. The rest of the album, thankfully, lived up to my expectations and then exceeded them. So... I decided to work my way through the rest of Blue October's discography. "History For Sale" is just as original and diverse as "Foiled" is. These guys are truly amazing in that they cannot possibly be labeled as just one genre. There's traces of "standard" alternative rock here, but also an abundance of acoustic rock, industrial, metal, and maybe even prog. This is the BEST music CD I've ever seen. Justin Furstenfeld's emotions in this DVD are exceptional. It is his life in song, and just watching him singing some of his heartfelt writings give me chills to see his emotions out there for all of his fans to see. Blue October is a great live band to see in concert. I highly recommend this CD to anyone.
