This is one of the wittiest CDs that I have ever heard. Breiner very successfully finds baroque elements in music where a non-composer's ear would never pick them out. Would you have noticed the similarities between "Michelle" and the main subject of "Die Kunst der Fuge"? Buy it.

Emmanuel is probably the most gifted musician in the folk/country acoustic guitar genre. He performs at a level reminiscent of the late Lenny Breau. Center Stage is an affordable two disc live recording and well worth getting if you love acoustic guitar music. I knock a star off for material -- Emmanuel's original instrumental compositions are beautiful and sometimes even challenge his audience but his covers tend to be predictable and crowd pleasing. Instead of "When I'm 64" wouldn't it be cool if his Beatles medley included "She Said She Said" or "Tomorrow Never Knows?" A minor quibble about a very fine recording.

Kapo put out a great work with this CD. It does just what it is supposed to do, bring your mind and soul back to earth. Great Hawaiian music and awesome talent on the strings. Kimo West is superb as always and Kapo and friends are right on with this CD. If you love Hawaiian music, with an edge, you won't be disappointed.

King's Singers Greatest Hits was disappointing. The contemporary music included did not have the smooth feel that one expects, and the classical pieces were all right but not spectacular. I did not feel that some of these pieces were greatest hits. I will probably go back to listening to older collections of their music.

I generally enjoy Beatles cover albums. I've listened to and enjoyed tributes ranging from Chet Atkins to the Canadian Brass, but this cd by John Pizzarelli needs to have Maxwell's Silver Hammer taken to it. The singing is flat, the arrangemets insipid and the production so schmaltzy that you would not be surprised to hear these performances in a b-list night club. Even the mugshots on the cd booklet cover are silly. What was Pizzarelli thinking? He could not, in all seriousness, have thought this record sounded good. Just listen to "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," and you will find yourself screaming "just shoot me!" Alvin & the Chipmunks did a better job with the Fab Four! Just think, John!
